About this deal

A lot of questions come up in this book. Is Cathy Mary’s long lost daughter? In fact, why is Mary so eager to do everything that Cathy wants her to do? More than that, why are Joanne and Jason so resistant to any changes that Mary starts to make in her life? As I was reading this book, I felt like I was reading a story that included gaslighting. This increased the intriguing nature of this story, all while guilt, secrets, and lies as well as unexplained things happening to Mary keep taking place. What a compelling read that concluded with a jaw-dropping twist. She also pretends she does not notice the many barbed comments from his mother or the dark looks she keeps sending her way. Today is my wedding day. And I don’t know if I’ll make it out alive…As I put my beautiful white wedding dress on, I try not to ignore my fears. I look in the mirror and feel more beautiful than I ever have before. I know marrying Sam is the right choice. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I reach for my bright yellow roses, and I force myself to be as cheerful and sunny as those flowers. I won’t dwell on everything that’s happened recently – ever since we agreed to stay with his parents for the weeks ahead of the wedding. Glancing down at my sparkling engagement ring, I pretend to myself I can forget about the ‘accidents’ I keep having, that I can’t believe are coincidental. Or about his mother’s barbed comments, and the dark looks she gives me.And, just for today, while I walk down the aisle towards the man of my dreams, while I say ‘I do’, I’ll try to put the secret I know about the family I am marrying into right out of my mind. Even though that’s one secret that – if I was my soon-to-be mother-in-law – I might just kill to keep… An absolutely thrilling and gripping psychological suspense novel, perfect for fans of Shalini Boland, Shari Lapena, and The Woman in the Window. The Mother-in-Law by Karen King – eBook Details As I put my beautiful white wedding dress on, I try not to ignore my fears. I look in the mirror and feel more beautiful than I ever have before. I know marrying Sam is the right choice. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

While it's billed as a psychological suspense novel, Karen King's 'The Family Reunion' is a contemporary family drama that's heavy on the... you guessed it, drama and secrets, and after about the third twist, things become hard to believe. It was love at first sight for Dana and Sam. And Dana could not believe how wonderful it was to be in love and to receive a marriage proposal after only four months of dating. And here we get it right at the beginning when the prologue sets the tone for what's to come later in the novel.

The Mother-in-Law follows a couple named Sam and Dana, who after a whirlwind romance of 4 months, are engaged to be married! We find out early on that Dana has a serious nut allergy, which is terrible because she ends up moving in with her future in-laws and they're a bunch of nuts! Sorry, I had to. I would like to thank #KarenKing , #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheFamilyReunion in exchange for an honest review. This is how you write a tense battle of wills. Right from the start you know things have gone horribly wrong for bride Dana……

For the most part, the plot was easy to follow; you know from the start that there are going to be lots of lies and secrets revealed. However, I must irrevocably state - Ms. King got me GOOD with that twist at the end! After reading enough of these types of books, it is quite hard to catch me off guard, but this author achieved the impossible! Over the years, Karen king progressed from children’s fiction into romance before she also ventured into psychological thrillers.
