In most cases, we’d say that a Netflix movie wouldn’t get a physical release. However, The Last Kingdom has been a little different. It didn’t originally start as a Netflix series. The show was a BBC show that was licensed by Netflix. When the BBC decided not to renew it, Netflix stepped in to save it. There is a chance that it will come to DVD and Blu-ray in the future. This is my absolutely favorite series ever. Like all great films, they have to start with an engaging and heroic story and excellent adaptive script. "The Last Kingdom" novels by Bernard Cornwell and script adaptation by Stephen Butchard excel on both counts. The dialogue is smooth and engaging and unique to each of the great characters portrayed. The pace is hypnotic. The temptation to binge is irresistible. In my opinion, the series has achieved the almost impossible task of producing a film that is as good as the original books. If you liked the first two series of "The Vikings" you'll love every episode in this series.

It has been such an honor to be part of telling this story for all these years. As an actor, I have been so challenged and gratified by the privilege of playing Uhtred. Hanging up Uhtred’s sword after filming ‘Seven Kings’ felt, ironically, heavy – even though I know that our tale has reached its conclusion.
