About this deal

The story develops to show of Elsa’s unique love of comedy and the illustrations throughout the book perfectly match the story and really allow a young readers imagination to come to life. Jacqueline Wilson captures the unique personality that children can possess and how this can cause them difficulties in growing up when dealing with adults and children alike, she offers solutions to this and Elsa ends up a true heroine within the book due to her unique personality. Not only does the story deal with the upset of having to move, but it touches upon a broken family unit and how this can often be challenging for a child to deal with. Jacqueline is also a great reader, and has amassed over 20,000 books, along with her famous collection of silver rings. Elsa - A young girl of ten years old who has experienced moving a lot when she was younger. She dreams of being a comedienne when she is older, as she is always telling jokes, much to the annoyance of others. Elsa is good at looking after Pippa. Her best friends are Naomi and Funny-face. She is named after Elsa the lioness, and has a lion's mane of ginger hair. Mum - Elsa's unnamed mother who gets very depressed after moving to the Royal and worries a lot. She is a slim brunette with a ponytail. She has written over 70 best-selling books, and several have even been adapted for TV – most famously The Story of Tracy Beaker. Her signing sessions attract huge crowds of fans and last for hours! Over 25 million copies of her books have now been sold in the UK alone.Elsa’s step dad is abusive to only her. Her mum is severely depressed and doesn’t believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The council dump them into the smallest room, a room in which they can’t possibly breathe. There are scenes which involve the local kids writing ‘naughty words’ on the walls. I was completely oblivious to this when I was reading it as a child 😂 The Bed and Breakfast Star is a children's novel by British author Jacqueline Wilson. [1] Plot [ edit ] This book was brutal for a children’s book. It’s a book that affects thousands of children every day. For children, staying in a new room with places to explore is exciting, for an adult and wondering how and where they are going to get their next meal was terrifying especially with reading it now with the cost of living. Elsa is very mature for her age that you forget throughout the book that she is only ten years old, yet she is looking after her siblings and making sure they are getting fed when her abusive stepfather is hungover, and her mother just can’t get out of bed. The side characters have personalities within this book, and it doesn’t feel like they are just there to move the story along. This book is about a young girl, who is incredibly mature for someone who has to deal with half the things she faces. An incredibly realistic yet fictitious character, who unfortunately calls out to thousands of young children, in terms of their home lives. The Bed and Breakfast Star gives an insight into a child’s thoughts and feelings, not just about what she goes through at home, but also what she faces at school; being a ‘bed and breakfast kid’.

One day a great fire breaks out in the hotel (which Elsa discovers) and Elsa saves the guests by waking them up because of her extremely loud voice. Elsa becomes a star and is interviewed by many reporters. Because of the damage caused by the fire, Elsa and her family temporarily move into "The Star Hotel", a very well-managed place. The book ends with Elsa telling jokes to the readers. [2] Characters [ edit ] Main [ edit ]

Aku tak bisa menguncinya, mulutku bukan pintu," sahutku. "Hei, apa persamaan pintu dengan pohon? Sama-sama berdaun!" (Lelucon pada hal: 26) I always adore Jac Wilson's book. I love almost all of her books, but surprisingly, this book isn't one of them. This book is another fantastic creation from Jacqueline Wilson. It has a great storyline with a great plot. The story is so simple yet so brilliant and this book will and has attracted many people. The bed and breakfast star is more of a snapshot look at the life of a girl who comes from a difficult family who are on hard times, who is forced into a somewhat run down bed and breakfast because the council cannot provide any alternative housing for them. There is no real end to the story and there aren’t a lot of beats hit throughout, but the illustrations are enjoyable and the main character is likeable.
