About this deal

I do need to give a small caveat, that our last recorded play of Pandemic was more than seven years ago. Other than the first two Pandemic Legacies, we have not play any of the other Pandemic variants out there. So if this game repeats something from one of those games, we are are not aware of it. Naturally, basing a board game on The Clone Wars animated series required research for every area of gameplay, from the planets on the galaxy map to the details of the players’ missions. “The first thing I did when I started on the project was to watch the whole series from start to finish to make sure it was fresh in my mind,” Ortloff-Tang says. “Over the course of the project, I ended up rewatching it a bunch of times, both for inspiration and just for entertainment. It was fun to immerse myself in that era.” Legions takes this intergalactic war to the surface as you pit the rebel scum against the Empire! Of course Star Wars is full of vehicles that don’t fly around space and Legions allows you mess around in AT-AT, AT-ST and SATs exams. (Maybe not the last one). Star Wars is almost a cultural rite of passage. Parents remember it fondly and enjoy introducing their children to the ‘proper’ films and ignoring some of the newer entries. It makes excellent fodder for board games and a number have been released. Most successful of these is arguably X-Wing. The dog fighting game set in a galaxy far far away.

My Comments: There are a lot of possible missions, several different heroes, and four different villains. This makes for a lot of configurations Fans of the animated series will be happy to hear that Ortloff-Tang did a healthy amount of research when making the game, which included rewatching the entire show several times. The development team also drew inspiration from specific moments in the show when making art for the game. The difficulty level is determined by how many missions you choose to complete. 'Padawan' is the easiest difficulty and requires three missions before reaching the finale, while Jedi Grandmaster is the hardest, tasking players with completing six. The game also challenges veteran players to take on even more missions, and if you’re really struggling or simply teaching the game to new players, there’s certainly no reason why you couldn’t play less than three missions.Have you ever wanted to have a team of clone troopers at your fingertips, awaiting your next command? Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a collaborative strategy game that puts you in the well-worn boots of one of your favorite Jedi from the animated series of the same name. Deploy troopers alongside Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and more to iconic locations featured in The Clone Wars stories. Complete all of your missions by waging battles against Separatists and Sith before they overwhelm the galaxy. Can you save the Republic before it’s too late? Blue Shadow Virus" - Naboo - " In a secret bio-weapons lab, Dr. Nuvo Vindi engineers an airborne strain of a previously eradicated disease." This game is based on the system of another game called Pandemic, where you need to stop the spread of a virus, in this case an invasion of droids. But there are key differences and improvements over the original game. First droids do not spread, they just invade and stay there. And the bureaucracy of cards used by the original pandemic is replaced with mission cards, that refer to specific episodes of the TV show, making it very thematic.

Children of the Force" - Mustafar - " Jedi must rescue Force-sensitive children kidnapped by bounty hunter Cad Bane." My Comments: Personally I would prefer a Clone Wars game more along the lines of Rebellion, but this works well enough. Co-op games still are not my favorite, but the decent use of my favorite theme carries this one across the line for me. Are you an avid board game player? Are you also a fan of the Clone Wars animated series? If you answered yes to both of those questions, then Z-Man Games and Asmodee have recently released a board game that you might be interested in. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a new cooperative board game — based on the fan-favorite animated series — using the same mechanics as Z-Man Games’ popular Pandemic series of board games. Hostage Crisis" - Coruscant - " Cad Bane seizes control of the Galactic Senate Building, trapping senators and officials inside."The rule set governs command in an intuitive way and allows for fog of war and moments of chaos as a real laser battle would no doubt descend into! The Lost One" - Oba Diah - " Following the trail of Master Sifo-Dyas, the Jedi discover a lead: a forgotten captive of the Pyke Syndicate." The success of this tactical space fighting game has spawned imitations across the hobby. But X-Wing has two things its mimics do not. First, it's Star Wars. Second, the figures are pre-painted to a high standard, so you can have amazing-looking games for zero effort. And if you collected Star Wars toys as a kid, the nostalgia appeal is impossible to ignore. Painting all three models was very easy with the whole process not taking too long due to the small amount of paints and steps needed for the models, what I did to paint them was follow these steps: The squad cards are a really neat addition that will delight diehard fans. Each one contains a different character or vehicle and the Stealth and Assault cards all feature clones, so familiar faces like Commander Gree, Fives, and Echo pop up frequently. We even found ourselves trying to keep cards that featured our favourite troopers. XCOM vibes, anyone?

The first action option is move. The board is made up of a series of connected planets. In general to move from one planet to another is one action. Ambush" - Toydaria - " Jedi battle Separatist forces to win favor and forge a treaty with King Katuunko of Toydaria." Star Wars: The Clone Wars has a higher RRP than Pandemic, but it isn't hard to see why. The miniatures are a fantastic addition and would make great projects for anyone who’s handy with a can of primer and a brush. Out of the playable Jedi, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Ahsoka, and Mace Windu’s presence is hardly a surprise, but it’s nice to see a couple of characters that ardent fans will recognise in Luminara Unduli and Aayla Secura. And additional miniatures would be the perfect excuse for future expansions. Spaceship combat in Star Wars is spectacular, but it's not where the real heart of the films is. That's in the unfolding story, the Jedi powers, the blaster battles. It's in Han and Leia, Luke and his father. If that's where you are with the movies, Imperial Assault is your game.My Comments: I like how the first couple of turns everything feels manageable, and then by turn four it suddenly does not. This game is tense and walks the thin line that is right between "We don't have a chance" and "We can do this." HEROIC JEDI ROLES: Assume the roles of heroic Jedi, each wielding powerful and unique abilities to engage swarms of droids, complete galaxy-spanning missions, and harness the Force to confront iconic villains. This is a serious game of warfare and it’s worth noting that the minis in the game come unassembled and unpainted. They are designed to fit together well and will only need a bit of superglue. Miniatures of Jedis and villains come inside a holder that holds them perhaps too tight. So after repeated use, a miniature could brea,k if you take them out with your bare hands. Use a eyebrow tweezer and carefully grab the base of the miniatures to take them out. Also get a couple of sandwich bags to store cards inside the box. In Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the Separatist armies are powerful forces. The only way to defeat them is to take control of legendary heroes from the Clone Wars saga, such as Anakin Skywalker™, Ahsoka Tano™, Obi-Wan Kenobi™, Mace Windu™, Yoda™, Aayla Secura™, and Luminara Undula™, all with their own unique mastery of the force. Each of these heroes is represented by their own detailed and sculpted plastic figure.

The game became a victim of its own popularity, bloated with confusing expansions. But a second edition has cleaned things up and added a bunch of cool rules tweaks. Now, as well as the squad building and hidden movement tactics of the original, you can deploy force powers to aid your cause. Existing players can get upgrade kits with new dials and cards for their collection.Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a powerful saga of heroes coming together to save the galaxy, and this game is no different," says Z-Man Games head Sophie Gravel in a press release. "Our cooperative Pandemic System helps bring iconic Star Wars characters and stories to life - with our Jedi needing to combine Forces to stand a chance against unending waves of Separatist troops. Players will be on the edge of their seat with every playthrough as they fight for victory… and bring balance to the Force.” There are a few reasons why we took a chance on The Clone Wars. First, it is built off of Pandemic. We used to have Pandemic and we played it a decent amount. While it is not exactly a favorite game for either of us, it is one we would be willing to play. Second, our son does like cooperative games and we do not have many to play with him. Third, it is Star Wars. Honestly, if the first two reasons were not there, the third reason alone might be enough for me to get this. I really love Star Wars, but did we love this game?
