About this deal

The other thing is, when you have a good TV/home theatre system these days, it’s somewhat pointless to debate things like “It’s too dark” since TVs have so many customizable settings. Before-and-after pictures just aren’t that helpful when any person can make their TV display a film any way they want…

We start with Stephen, who’s turned in a look at Ivan Passer’s Cutter’s Way (1981), new on Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome. This remastered edition features some nice lighting, contrast, and detail enhancements thanks to the new scan from original film elements.worries that the image might be substandard can cease. This is about as pristine as these original film elements allow. Grain is not only retained, but

Production – A series of four shorter vignettes that help illustrate some of the more technical challenges of bringing this film to the screen. Star Trek: Generations (1994) gets perhaps the largest amount of color restoration in its new presentation, as a noticeable yellow-green tint (which permeated the 2009 edition) is scraped away in the 4K edition. The 4K Star Trek film collection will make its way to the United Kingdom on September 6, and then to France on September 8, followed by Germany on September 9. For those of you in other locations, no specific dates have been announced — but Paramount’s Blu-ray and 4K collections are typically region free so you may be able to import as needed. The Star Trek Universe – And to two up the last one we’ve got a 9-part feature here for your viewing pleasure. But hey... we’re not done with 4K news yet, and this is a big one. We first broke the news many months ago that Disney and 21st Century Fox would be releasing James Cameron’s original Avatar in 4K Ultra HD sometime this year, timed to coincide with the home release of the new sequel Avatar: The Way of Water. But the home video street date for that has been (and continues to be) in a state of flux, because the film is still performing very strongly at the box office, and Disney would like to keep it in theaters for as long as that continues. We’ve also reported that Cameron’s The Abyss (1989) would finally be coming to 4K Ultra HD and probably remastered Blu-ray this year as well, and it was initially confirmed by Cameron—in recent press interviews amid the PR blitz for The Way of Water—that fans should expect this to happen by March. And good news, international fans — while this new collection arrives in the United States and Canada on September 7, it’s not limited to North America! When all is said and done, after revisiting these Next Generation films I can boldly say that fans of the franchise should engage their wallets at their earliest convenience because it won’t get any better than this for a long time to come. Each 4K restoration is just top tier quality and delivers everything anyone could hope for when it comes to these sort of remastered/upgraded collections. Now we just have to hope that we’ll one day see a fully restored version of the series to go with it! This exceptional collection includes four Ultra HD discs, as well as four remastered Blu-ray discs with hours of previously released bonus content. One thing worth noting: Neither the 4K/Blu-ray singles reviewed above or this new 4-Movie Collection include the Evolutions bonus disc found in the 2009 Star Trek: The Next Generation Movie Collection Blu-ray box, so you may wish to hang onto that disc if you have it. For the record, it featured: You’re right — the images with the review are completely unhelpful. It would have been better not to include them at all.
