About this deal

Tyrannosaurus grew to around 12 metres (40 ft.)in length, and weighed up to 8 metric tonnes (9 short tons). It lived right to the end of the Cretaceous Period, becoming extinct along with all of the other non-bird dinosaurs in the Cretaceous-Paleogene Extinction Event. Spiny is the only one of the six main dinosaurs that did not appear in his chibi form in his debut episode. The unique characteristic of the Futalognkosaurus is that the neural spines were so large and ran almost the full length of its body. It weighed at least 33 tons, and its body length was 79 feet. Final Thoughts

This small bipedal dinosaur was just under 1 metre (3 ft.)in length. It was first discovered in the Australian dinosaur hotspot Dinosaur Cove.

Some say that the spike may be used for self-defense, while others believe that it may help the animal to grip onto branches or leaves.

These armoured, herbivorous dinosaurs are fairly well known from the northern continents, but this is the first time that the remains of one has been found from Africa. Tyrannosaurus is perhaps the most famous type of dinosaur in the world, and no list of dinosaurs would be complete without it! One species in particular, Tyrannosaurus Rex, is particularly well-known as being the archetypal ‘killer dinosaur’.A new dinosaur fossil from Morocco dating to 167-163 million years old is thought to be the oldest ankylosaur ever discovered. We start our list of dinosaurs with Abelisaurus, a predatory theropod dinosaur of the late Cretaceous Period. Abelisaurus was a medium-sized, bipedal* dinosaur that was probably between 7 and 9 metres (23 and 29 ft.) in length. Holtz, T. R., (2000) "Classification and Evolution of the Dinosaur Groups" (pp. 140–168) in The Scientific American Book of Dinosaurs, edited by Gregory S. Paul, New York: St Martin's Press ISBN 0-312-26226-4. Brontosaurus was discovered after Apatosaurus. At the time it was thought to be a different dinosaur, but it was later found to be an Apatosaurus. However, the name ‘Brontosaurus’ had become so widely-used that many people still think thatthey are different dinosaurs. In 1977 the Chungkingosaurus was discovered and dug up in China around the Upper Shaximiao Formation. This species lived during the late Jurrasic period. As one of many members of the Stegosauridae family, the Chungkingosaurus was a herbivore and walked on all fours. They lived in forest-type habitats. This species lived in groups with other similar dinosaurs.

Ceratosuchops and Riparovenator add crucial knowledge about the poorly understood spinosaurids, shedding light on the group’s evolutionary origins. Most of the oldest spinosaurids lived in what’s now Europe, which suggests the group’s ancestral homeland was in the Northern Hemisphere. ( Read more about Ceratosuchops and Riparovenator’s scientific significance.) 6. A toothless pipsqueak from BrazilHowever, there is still much debate on this topic, and further research is needed to reach a definitive conclusion. The herbivore likely ate conifers, cycads (woody plants with seeds) and ferns. "They had very wimpy teeth," Henderson said. "They had a beak like a turtle, and they would just gather the food. [There was] very little chewing." Rather, a system of stomachs would have processed the fibrous food, he said. Giganotosaurus was around 16 metres (62 ft.)in length and weighed 8 metric tonnes (9 short tons). It was likely to have had good senses of both sight and smell. Gallina and his colleagues suggest that the neural spines could have been covered with a “horny sheath,” a “sheath of keratin,” or covering made of skin and horns that effectively protected the neural spines. Additionally, scientists suggest that the spines covered with skin could help with thermoregulation, regulating the dinosaur’s body temperature.
