About this deal

However, the reality is that Lake District weather is anything but predictable and, fantastic as it is when we do get the desired weather, the likelihood is that it will be grey, damp, and possibly windy. Don’t let this put you off, though. Many of our best images have been taken either during bad weather, or as light has suddenly broken through dark cloud. Once voted Britain’s favourite view, it’s easy to see why Wastwater has become one of the Lake District’s most iconic scenes. By the time you reach its shingle shores you feel as though you've entered another world entirely. Even by Lake District standards it’s impressive. Follow the B5285 from Coniston and then signs to Tarn Hows – home to one of the Lake’s best-loved viewpoints. The locations include: Lakes, Fells, Valleys, Waterfalls, Cottages & Farmhouses , Woodlands, Rivers, Bridges, Boats, Jetties, Wildlife, Classic Views, Landscapes & Panoramas, Villages, Shows and Events, Historic Houses, Castles & Gardens. To help you navigate while in the Lake District all the attractions listed in this guided are on the below map.

There are some fantastic elevated views to the southern end of Rydal Water from Whitemoss Common, and the effort needed to reach them is minimal. Park in the Whitemoss (pay and dispay) car park, on the right hand side of the road as you travel along the A591 from Ambleside. Topographic maps • Sat nav and map co-ordinates including ///what3words and scannable lat-long QR-codes for your smart phone • Sun compass If the thought of all that hill climbing sounds like way too much effort for you, then you don’t have to travel too far from the car here for some great autumnal images. From the same parking spot near St Mary’s church, head into the grounds of Rydal Hall.Welcome to my collection of professional Lake District Landscape Photography. All pictures are available for sale online as gallery quality, framed landscape prints or stretched canvases to enjoy the Lake District scenery on your walls at home. L’Enclume // The first of Simon Rogan’s restaurants, L’Enclume has 2 Michelin stars, a farm-to-table philosophy, and traceable local ingredients that are expertly prepared. LEE: There are sixteen lakes in the Lake District and many Tarn’s (small mountain lakes) each with many areas of interest around them. One of my favourite areas within the Lake District is the town of Ambleside that sits at the head of Windermere, England's largest natural lake. There are a variety of walks and hiking trails around Windermere (as well as the rest of the Lakes) varying from gentle walks around the lake to more strenuous hikes in the fells. If time allows, I‘d recommend a walk along Lingmoor Fell from Side Pike. As you climb higher the fells, which are so beautifully wrapped all around the Little Langdale and Great Langdale valleys, become ever greater in number. You’ll find 360 degree views that really are quite staggering.

Instead, if you’re unsure about your fitness level, go slow. Start with easy walks and work your way up. Eventually, you might be running up and down mountains – but I don’t recommend you try it at the beginning! 5. Take food and drink whenever you go out But if you’re a first-time Lake District visitor, what’s the best way to capture beautiful photos? And what are the best locations for a landscape photographer? It will take you roughly another 20 to 30 minutes to reach the very top, depending on your pace, but it’s well worth the effort. It also gives some great views over the other side of the fell, to Loughrigg Tarn. Viewpoint 3 (Whitemoss Common) Viewpoint 3 (Whitemoss Common) The Lakes outstanding natural beauty has inspired artists, writers, and poets for centuries, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. It is a photographer’s paradise and home to so many iconic viewpoints that you could visit time and again, and still only scratch the surface of its undoubted picture potential. It’s a short if a little steep climb to the top of the crag, and there are various viewpoints on the way up that give you breath-taking views of both Little Langdale, and as you climb further up, Great Langdale. It also makes a great subject for a panoramic image. I like to include the contrasting flash of vibrant green on the other side of the lake, and its reflection. In my opinion, the first couple of hours of daylight are best. If you can get them, still conditions and clearing mist make for some wonderful atmospheric images. However, if you can keep rain off the lens, damp, murky conditions (which tend to be quite frequent in the Lake District!) can also work quite well, in conjunction with long exposures to smooth out the lake surface. And I haven’t even mentioned the west side of the lake. Suffice to say I wouldn’t dismiss Windermere as a place for landscape photography. Despite being very busy for much of the year and not having any spectacular mountain scenery close by, it can nevertheless offer some really beautiful photographic moments – you just have to look for them. As already mentioned there are various spots to park along the lake edge but please do not park in passing places or obstruct traffic. And as I mentioned in Tip 2 above, always inform someone of your planned route. You’re heading out into the wilderness; better safe than sorry! Must-visit Lake District locations
