About this deal

Save time making large batches of juice for a family or for the week. You can easily prep your next juice while your juicer is doing the work. Then, the parts warranty only offers a relatively short 2 years of cover on the Nama J2, compared to 5 years for functional parts on the Hurom H400. Considering a majority of defective parts will only start to break after about 2 - 3 years of use, this is particularly concerning for the Nama J2.

The Nama J2 juicer comes with a safety feature that makes is both child-safe and incredibly practical to use. When you add your produce, you close the lid, turn on the juicer and the juicer starts doing its magic. If you open the lid, it automatically (and immediately) turns off, so you never have to worry about leaving the juicer unattended around children. This is another very important factor for me. I’m lazy by nature and simply cannot spend hours cleaning a juicer. Once I’m done juicing, I discard the dry pulp (you can compost it or freeze it to use in savory muffins or other recipes), and immediately rinse the different parts of the juicer. I then use a sponge and/or a brush (it comes with a small brush that looks a bit like a big tooth brush) and a little soap and warm water to clean it and then let it air dry. That whole cleaning process takes less than 5 minutes and feels easier compared to many other juicers I’ve used. One of the standout features of the Nama J2 is its ability to get a high yield out of your fruit and veg with minimum effort. Thanks to its large hopper, you don’t have to chop your juice or smoothie ingredients into small pieces, as is the case with the majority of juicers I've tried. If you’ve ever used a centrifugal juicer or a high speed blender, the Nama J2 Cold Press Juicer is much quieter. It still makes sound, but it’s far from being noisy and you could easily hold a conversation and listen to music while using it.The Nama J2 is one of the heaviest, bulkiest, and tallest juicers I’ve reviewed, weighing 12.1 lbs/5.5kg and measuring 9.8 x 9 x 17.7 inches/24.9 x 22.9 x 45.1cm.Yet it's also one of the most attractive, combining a modern-looking base and mechanisms with a retro, 1970s ribber plastic hopper. Starting from the top, it's most notable for being a self-feeding juicer. As a result, ingredients placed in a chamber on the top of the unit are juiced automatically once it is turned on, without the need for any supervision. It can make smoothies: it comes with a second strainer specifically for smoothies, which adds additional fiber to your juice. You don't even need to peel them if you don't want to, although depending on the fruit and veg you're using, the results can vary if you leave the skin on. For instance, if you leave the skin on oranges, it dulls the flavor of the juice somewhat, yet if you leave the skin on pears and apples, it makes no noticeable difference to the final results. Load your entire recipe and walk away, allowing you to multi-task in the kitchen. Make a delicious juice in minutes. LESS-PREP

It’s simple to assemble without having to refer to the instruction manual and with only two settings to choose from; on or reverse, it’s a simple juicer to use. It comes with three interchangeable strainers, for smoothie, juice, and sorbet - making it more versatile than a standard juicer. There’s also a pulp control lever for additional control over the amount of pulp in smoothies. I’ve used this juicer more than a dozen times during my testing and have never experienced a bad batch of juice. Not a single bit of pulp has made its way into my drinks; there is minimal foam and having the perfect-sized plastic containers to catch the juice and pulp makes the whole process convenient. The Nama J2's height and size make it a conspicuous appliance. It takes up a lot of countertop space, doesn't fit comfortably beneath kitchen cupboards, and can't be stored away without being dismantled, meaning you'll need to reassemble it every time. The juicer isn’t the fastest I’ve used. This is largely because it’s a masticating juicer rather than one that relies on centrifugal force, but it’s also deliberate because it reduces the amount of foam and froth it creates. Plus, it makes it a quiet juicer.Choosing a juicer (or any kitchen appliance) can be extremely confusing given the many options that exist. I’ve personally been juicing for over 10 years now and have used anything from a blender and strainer to a thrifted centrifugal juicer, to several kinds of slow juicers. After all these years, the juicer I now use and prefer is the Nama J2 Cold Press juicer.

The Nama J2 uses a mixture of crushing, chopping, and pressing the ingredients to extract the juice. Its auger spins relatively slowly, which is beneficial for a number of reasons. Firstly, it means the juicer takes its time to maximize the amount of juice that is extracted. The brand claims this preserves more nutrients and makes the juices healthier and more flavoursome. I can’t vouch for the former, but I can vouch for just how tasty and fresh all the juices I make with the Nama J2 are. There are many kitchen gadgets I don’t use nearly as often as I’d like to simply because they’re either difficult to set up or complicated to use. So ease of use is one of the most important factors for me when it comes to using a juicer. The Nama J2 Cold Press Juicer takes only about 2 minutes (possibly less) to put together and then all you need to do is add your produce and turn it on. That’s it. Nama’s customer service is super efficient and friendly, so that’s another plus (poor customer service is a huge deal breaker for me.)We tried out several juices in the Nama Vitality 5800, first off orange juice. Oranges need to be peeled and broken into smaller segments so they’ll fit into the feed chute. From 1.47lb / 667g oranges we got 0.13 gallon / 499 ml juice which is a good yield of almost 75%, meaning only 25% of the oranges ended up in the waste pulp container. The orange juice was very clear and smooth with absolutely no froth at all, an impressive result.

You never know what can happen, so even though the Nama J2 juicer is super high quality (mine’s never had any issues and I use it all the time), it’s good to know that if something ever were to happen, it’s covered by a 15-year warranty on the motor. Next up we juiced carrots which just had to be cut in half lengthways and again the juice was very clear and smooth with no froth. The juice yield was almost 46% which is an average result.
