Having been a big fan of Drakkar Noir for many years, I really wanted to smell other scents by Guy LaRoche. This one for some reason, was nearly impossible for me to find here in the NE United States. Thank you very much to Action for the lovely decant-great swapping with you!... You'd think with a name like that and its association with a monster of myth, it would be extremely potent and overwhelming fragrance, that's where you'd be wrong. Minotaure, is a smooth, aromatic, fruity and vanilla fragrance which sits closely to your skin and lasts quite moderately - edging towards around 7 hours on skin, even longer on clothes. As a woman my tastes in perfumes are forward in thought, and I don't care for the heavy perfumes from that time that announce you are home to the neighborhood. But that's for me... I don't like men who smell like they've bathed in cologne, but a scent of man is appreciated and noted. Another diverse category, fougères are generally categorised by a floral heart of lavender and rose, contrasted by a citrussy bergamot top note.

Scent- 9/10 Surprising and fascinating all the way to the base, a well-crafted journey of a fragrance, definitely based in more classic scent profiles. Be prepared for the experience of this scent to change the more you wear it. You could let the marketing guide you. Do you want to be David Gandy blue-steeling his way around the Amalfi Coast? (You’re a Dolce & Gabbana man). Or perhaps you see yourself in Richard Madden, clad in double denim for Calvin Klein. If you can relate to Adam Driver’s minotaur masterpiece, you know where to look. What’s the best men's fragrance? Well, that depends on the man. Scent is one of the most subjective pillars of a grooming regime, meaning one person’s preferred spritz will vary wildly from the next. It's the difference between the warm and friendly waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the frigid dark waters of the hadal zone in the Mariana Trench. Galbanum and aldehydes—one of my favorite fragrances (Imari) shares these and other notes with Minotaur, so I was excited to try this fragrance. Of course, saying that is like saying “ooh, he has blonde hair and blue eyes; I’m sure he’ll be hot.” Plenty of us get into blind-buy trouble with that line of thought! Fortunately, this was a gift, so a risk-free trial. This fragrance from the early 90's was pure dirty, warm, lusty, sensuous, sex in a bottle. The deep, warm masculine scent had a very sexual appeal to me. I have never been excited over most men's colognes before but when I smelled this, it was instant lust! I immediately bought it for my mate then, and with the mixture of his body chemistry and this scent, it was nothing short of pure abandoned heat! lol What an opening! Minotaure opens herbaceous, screechy and slightly pissy. It is this chaotic opening that sets up the beauty of the fragrance, after the strong opening dissipates we are treated to a sweet fruity amber with aldehydes, vanilla and tonka swirling around. What I get from this fragrance is an old abandoned house nestled deep within the middle of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. As you walk into the house you can smell the moisture from the rotting wood, and the piss that some passerby had taken in the corner a few days prior. Dank, musty and pine ridden. Chyprè (it's 'sheep-ra') is perhaps the most baffling of the fragrance families. Essentially, it refers to a complex scent that blends a citrussy top with a deep, woody base, often with oakmoss. My bottle is from April 2016, made by Cosmair. I think this is a somewhat complex fragrance that has so much going on that it lends to it's confusion which probably lent to it's demise and finding it's place in the fragrance community. However, it definitely is a quality scent and the house of Guy Laroche in its day, was mainstream with Drakkar. Those days are gone!

This is a heavy hitter - you can practically see the sillage trails. Projects strongly for more than 6-8 hours and continues to project moderately well beyond that. Farewell, old friend. Maybe someday I'll see you again at the Osmotheque...between two other greats, Zino Davidoff and YSL pour homme. It's a more masculine scent, akin to that of Roma Uomo by Laura Biagotti. Upon first spray you get the gentle fruits notes combined with Aldehydes and a slight tinge of Bergamot, upon settling down to the middle notes - it envelopes you in Rose and Geranium akin to that of Eau Rose by Diptyque - this is where it shines the most and is at its strongest and when you get the most compliments. Finally, the Base notes. Tonka, vanilla which smells akin to Le Male by JPG. That's not to say this fragrance just imitates them, it makes them its own and makes them stand out from the other frags with the same notes.

Solar Orange

I think new pathways are formed with this scent; and once the synthetic smokiness has cleared, there is a complimentary element to the wearer's own chemistry. A prelude with slightly soapy aldehydes, herbs and sweetish notes, probably represented by the undefined fruits. This doesn't really start off quietly. Unfortunately, the scent process takes place in a real pig gallop, so that one has difficulties in recognizing and naming its facets. That is very unfortunate I was wondering what that might be about Minotaure accompanied me from about 1992 to 1996, until it was replaced by other fragrances. And about 3 years ago I thought to myself "oh man, Minotaure is still around, why don't you take this one with you, it's on sale anyway"
