About this deal

She and Dad are moving to Somerset where a new mum and a bunch of brand-new sisters await. And on Cherry's first day there she meets Shay Fletcher - the kind of boy who should carry a government health warning. But Shay already has a girlfriend, Cherry's new stepsister, Honey. Cherry knows her friendship with Shay is dangerous - it could destroy everything. But that doesn't mean she's going to stay away from him... Third must-have title in this gorgeous series from one of the UK's best-loved girls' authors, Cathy Cassidy. Marshmallow Skye starts off on Halloween, which was spooky. That was a nice change as Cathy hasn’t written a horror story before. Marshmallow Skye isn’t really a horror story anyway, but it’s still a lot different from her other books. It’s more of a mystery, I think. A perfect next step for fans of Jacqueline Wilson, by the bestselling author of Scarlett, Dizzy, Angel Cake and Ginger Snaps. Read more Details

Marshmallow Skye was a beautiful, heart-warming, chocolate-filled story about finding yourself – with a scrummy side of an impossible romance, a tragic death, finding freedom – whether from a cage or your family – and a wonderful supernatural twist. And I was lift feeling all warm and squidgy inside – much like the namesake sweeties, marshmallows. I loved this book. I’m now desperate for Cherry Crush and Book Three. Whoever’s story it may be, I know – I know – it will be fantastic. (Fingers crossed for Honey, by-the-way.) Plus… Too Cute! The whole story was just wonderfully writing. It really felt like a teen – I could feel Skye, if that makes any sense. Sometimes it did feel a little formal. But, in my opinion, that was Skye. She wasn’t your average teen. She’s special and unique and the writing was her. It was so beautiful. And I just loved the supernatural aspects to the story. The dreams of Skye’s: ghostly memories or the imaginings of an overactive imagination? Either way, so cool and really interesting. Personally? Leanin’ towards the paranormal. Call me a Mulder but… some of the things? Real spooky and way too coincidental… Its about a girl called Skye who had an unberably ‘better at everything then her’ twin names Summer. Summer and Skye used to always do everything together but nowadays they seem to be drifting apart… Even worse, when her best friend; Alfie, admits he’s fallen for Summer and not her it hurts. The more Summer tries to find perfection, the more lost she becomes. Will she realise - with the help of the boy who wants more than friendship - that dreams come in all shapes and sizes?Skye and Summer were identical twins. The first thing they did when they were born was hold hands (how cute?). They finished one another’s sentences, felt what the other felt. But recently, everything had changed. It had always been “we”; now there was “you” and “me”. It was so interesting seeing how the twin whole twin-thing works and how their relationship developed, Cathy Cassidy was voted Queen of Teen in 2010 - beating Jacqueline Wilson and Louise Rennison to the throne. Honey is going to live with her dad in Australia. Determined to make a fresh start, she couldn't be further away from the tough times at Tanglewood. Her new life is a dream come true - until school begins. The girls are different from Honey's friends in England and the only person who seems to understand her is the cute boy from the beach she's chatting to online. But when he, the girls at school and even her dad start breaking promises, who can she trust? All alone on the other side of the world, Honey's past is about to catch up with her . . . Her twin Summer was quiet, confident and addicted to ballet. She was also a real feminist – woman power means that boys and romance equals trouble. But she wasn’t nearly as supportive of Skye as Skye was for her. She just didn’t understand that some things were as important to Skye as ballet was to her. I think she thought that identical twins were identical in all ways, and she struggled when she realises that wasn’t true. At one point, I wanted to just yell at Summer and shake her, like: “can’t you see how much you are hurting Skye?!” But then, she just changed in my eyes. I love characters that do that – that become so strong you just can never tell where they’re going.

Skye and Summer are twins. They have always been extremely close, but now as they grow older Skye can feel them growing apart. Skye – wears vintage style clothes, loves History, best friend is Millie. Summer – wears anything pink and anything cool, loves Ballet, best friend is Tia. They may look the same and occasionally think the same…but they couldn’t be more different. When they find a dusty old trunk in the attic, with ancient love letters and musty velvet dresses inside, Skye and Summer grow apart just a little bit more… I’ve always loved Cathy and her books, ever since my best friend lent me Scarlett when I was nine. I don’t know how she does it but she always manages to create a realistic story, with a sense of magic included. The rest of the sisters were vastly different from one another – each felt like they had their own distinct personality. Fourteen-year-old Honey, who used to be the “coolest sister” ever, but since the whole Cherry-Shay and Dad-moving-to-Australia, had been “off the rails”. Even though she wasn’t always ‘likeable’, I really liked how she said what she thought. Cherry Costello, the new sister, was really sweet and really worried about fitting it. Cherry was super smart and wise and cool. I loved her! Eleven-year-old Coco was cute: all hyper and rather funny. She was really excitable, bouncy, cheerful, and full of life. Plus: animal mad – I like this kid! Skye Tanberry feels like she’s constantly living in her identical twin’s shadow. Skye loves Summer more than anything… But she’s tired of feeling second best, like a mirror girl. So when Skye finds a trunk full of beautiful old clothes, belonging to a long-dead relative, she sees an opportunity to be different. Only, when she tries the dresses on, she has dreams. Dreams that feel real. Dreams in which she doesn’t feel herself… Dreams in which she is Clara Travers, her dead relative, dead by suicide…. And then she finds herself falling in love with an equally long-dead gypsy boy – a boy who probably is just a figment of her imagination… But is he? After all, Clara did love a young gypsy boy… I’ve been veggie for 30 years, and was vegan for 8 of them – a chocolate-eating vegan, like Storm! I love old clothes, old toys, cars, books. We have three cats, two rabbits and a mad, hairy lurcher called Kelpie (the model for Leggit in my book Dizzy). The next scrumptious story in Cathy Cassidy's Chocolate Box Girls series, following Cherry Crush and Marshmallow Skye. Perfect for fans of Jacqueline Wilson. Then Skye finds a box of Clara Travers, an ancestor of hers who may have commited suicide, clothes and Summer feels really uncomfortable seeing her wear them espeically after the ghost stories they told each other… Temukan selengkapnya di buku ini :))) There's an added complication for Skye because she's a twin and people assume that they are the same. Even Summer fails to appreciate that Skye has her own preferences and expects that she will fit in with Summer's views. If Summer wants a birthday party then obviously Skye will want one too. Perhaps the most difficult point for Skye is that Summer dislikes her interest in the past and in consequence Skye can't tell her just how much she is being affected by the story of the girl who used to live in the house. Skye feels an isolation that will be understood by many girls of this age. All the teenage humours of romance, jealousy, friendship and sorrow rage freely in this brilliantly observed story of contemporary life.' - Julia Eccleshare, Lovereading4kids.co.uk

Another really good instalment in the series. Skye is trying to stay herself when everyone around her has decided to start ‘growing up’ by being into boys and such. But she has no interest in any of that and feels quite mature without it all. Skye also has a big interest in history and a certain mystery of the past that relates to their estate. I liked where that storyline went although it did get a bit cheesy at the very end of the book.Obviously I adored this book. Who wouldn’t? I really wanted to save it, but I couldn’t help reading it within an hour. One of the highlights of my year is always when Cathy launches a new book – and it’s always just in time for my birthday! A little predictable for my liking. Although Alfie doesn't end up with Skye, you can tell Skye will somehow find out about the 'boy of her dreams' and meet him. Not only does Skye have to try and fix a relationship between the two, but live with her moody older sister; Honey who hates their step dad and step sister but listen to her younger sister; Coco’s violin practise and help with the Chocolate box business! My kids are 13 and 14 years old now, and the four of us live in a cottage in the Galloway hills with sheep and cows for neighbours. As well as writing books, I am the agony aunt on Shout magazine and sometimes teach art in the local primary schools, which is great fun and keeps me sane. (Well, maybe!)
