Get everything you need to start creating in Ableton Live with a MIDI keyboard controller that'll fit in your bag. In Logic Pro 10.6, Launchpad X and Launchpad Mini [MK3] devices no longer need to be rotated to properly display the Live Loops grid, as was required in v10.5. However, there are orientation options in Logic’s settings that allow you to choose vertical or rotated arrangement, to suit your preference. Like its siblings it features 64 bright, three-colour pads (arranged 8 x 8) that activate loops, effects and sounds, with a lightning-fast response time (despite not being velocity-sensitive). The customisable performance buttons that run down either side are labelled A–H and 1–8. The unit draws power from your iPad or computer, so leads that would nullify its mobile nature are absent. Before you can start using your Launchpad Mini with Ableton Live, there are a few steps you need to take. First, you’ll need to register the unit. Registering allows you to get a free copy of Ableton Live Lite, as well as a few virtual instruments. Register the Launchpad Mini The Launchpad Mini Mk 3’s about as small as you can get and still be usable. True, the X is more fun for finger drummers, and more ‘playable’ in general thanks to the superior pads, but for basic clip and scene launching, and drum triggering, the Mini works fine, especially now clip colours are visible.The SL MkII used Automap software which has been discontinued, you can read more about this here. Firstly, the Mk3 now includes RGB colour matching pads, so you have a really accurate representation of what you see in your Live Session. The Launchpad Mini has two power modes; Low Power (for iPad) and Full Power (for computers). To change the power mode, hold buttons 5, 6, 7 and 8 while connecting the USB cable, press RIGHT red LED for low power or LEFT red LED for high power, then press the green LED to exit.
