On September 21, 2020, Gerard Way announced a 6-issue sequel for the series titled The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem, which will explore the origins of the members. [11] On October 14, 2020, the first issue of the series was released. Pip, our favorite teen detective from A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, is joining friends for an evening of sleuthing. They're having a murder mystery party set in the 1920s, complete with costumes and accents. And when someone "dies", there are plenty of clues and red herrings to cast suspicion in every which way. Overall: that novella I’ve devoured in two hours definitely reminded me of my love and dedication to the series! I need another book! I need it ASAP! The Feminist Killjoy Handbook is a fun read when you are the feminist killjoy. I enjoyed the act of naming so many of my experiences at family dinners, work, and in my childhood friend-group texts. I think other feminist killjoys will appreciate the survival notes given so generously. But most importantly, it names the violence that is known to happen behind closed doors and the bravery it takes to speak up in intimate relationships. I highly recommend this book to feminist killjoys and even those quiet feminists teetering on embracing the killjoy label. This book will serve as a guide I wish I’d had when I started this journey Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodríguez Find out where it all began for Pip in this prequel to the best-selling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead. Previously published in 2021 as a World Book Day title.

This was sm fun!! 🤩🤩 I wasn't expecting too much bc it's super short, but it was waay better than I expected!! Just super fun and entertaining 💗💗 When her now successful aunt Carrie, who is struggling with a bad marriage to Tony invites her on a retreat- she finally agrees- only to find out that her aunt has been kidnapped by a "familiar looking" woman and a man named "Monk"- and soon with the help of secret agent John Paul, realizes that the conspiracy runs deeper and her aunt might be the target of a serial killer. Her razor-sharp mind and ability to gather data and decipher evidence has made Avery an expert crime analyst for the FBI. But soon she will have to use every one of her adroit skills on a case that hits painfully close to home. Throughout this entire book, I found myself laughing hysterically. Tears and all. 🥹🥹🥹. Just the disorganization of the party and how awful Pip, Cara, Conner, Zach, Lauren, Anthony, and Jamie were at playing their characters was both cute and hilarious. I also found myself gaining a much better understanding of Pip and her overall ability to solve murder cases. But as Pip plays detective, teasing out the identity of the killer clue-by-clue, the murder of the fictional Reginald Remy isn’t the only case on her mind … This book was a hot mess. The pacing was off, the writing and characters were inconsistent and unrealistic, the romance was weaker than a wet paper bag, and the book was stuffed full of old-fashioned sexism. It I have anything good to say about this book, its that the mystery started out with a lot of promise and that I finished the book. I can already tell this is going to devolve into a rant, so let’s hop right in. Avery arrives to the spa to meet up with her aunt for a week of pampering, she is instantly worried when she learns that not only has her reservation been canceled, but that Carrie never arrived as scheduled. Avery knows that something is horribly wrong, then John Paul introduces himself and when he learns that Carrie hadn’t arrived he proceeds to tell her that he thinks an assassin may have killed her Aunt, which naturally only makes Avery more determined to find and save her aunt especially when she receives a mysterious call sending her and John Paul on a game of cat and mouse, what a wild ride John Paul and Avery have ahead of them!!

Ann is the author of the books behind ITV's VERA, now in it's third series, and the BBC's SHETLAND, which will be aired in December 2012. Ann's DI Vera Stanhope series of books is set in Northumberland and features the well loved detective along with her partner Joe Ashworth. Ann's Shetland series bring us DI Jimmy Perez, investigating in the mysterious, dark, and beautiful Shetland Islands... I also felt for Anne, one of the three kidnapped women. Unpleasant. Unlikeable. At least, till you understand why. Then, a shift in perspective. Nicely done. In this third book of the Buchanan-Renard series, we have John Paul Renard, Noah Clayborne and Monk returning from the earlier book, Mercy. I like Ramsey's character but to me there is one contradiction in his make up / personality. Ramsey is written as a dour, shy, boring and serious individual who is divorced and doesn't seem to know how to connect or talk to women. All that is fine but how come every novel seems to involve an ex-flame of his? It just doesn't fit with his personality. However, the chemistry between the leads is barely explored except in the last 1/4,and even then we are more invested in the mystery than them (because of less screen time). There was also a singular mention of Ravi and honestly? I screamed. I LOVE HIM SM 😩😩 Just that mention made me sooo giddy. For the National Year of Reading, Ann was made reader-in-residence for three library authorities. It came as a revelation that it was possible to get paid for talking to readers about books! She went on to set up reading groups in prisons as part of the Inside Books project, became Cheltenham Literature Festival's first reader-in-residence and still enjoys working with libraries. The first step, is to find out who would have wanted Carrie dead. Avery can think of many people, and some might be in her own family. Since this is just a pretend murder, the stakes are low. It feels more cozy than suspenseful, but the book does a nice job of injecting some dark atmosphere into the mix, so it's still quite riveting. In fact, I had trouble putting it down and breezed through the whole thing in about two hours.
