Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle co-directed Jesus Revolution. Erwin's previous directing credits include American Underdog, I Still Believe and I Can Only Imagine, all of which he co-directed with his brother Andrew Erwin (while not directing, Andrew Erwin is a producer on Jesus Revolution). The ace in the hand of Jesus Revolution is its terrific cast, who transform the narrative from a history lesson into a moving, thoughtful drama. Casting Kelsey Grammer is a coup for the film, the erstwhile Frasier capturing both the weariness of a struggling pastor and the joy of seeing new life. The heart and soul of the film, however, is Jonathan Roumie as Frisbee. Thankfully he already looks the part, fresh from playing Jesus in The Chosen. But even if they do look alike, Frisbee is a very different role (keep an eye out also for a funny cameo from Paras Patel, who plays Matthew in the same series ). Roumie captures Frisbee’s relaxed, stoner drawl perfectly, as well as his gentleness, playing the character with a charismatic twinkle in his eye.
