The cards themselves are pretty great. They’re cleanly designed, uncluttered, despite being loaded with text, and feature fantastic artwork with only a few exceptions - yes, I’m looking at you, Newly-Made Lord. Some are used positively, to protect or buff your own characters, while others can be used negatively, to nerf or neutralise your opponent's. Constant Abilities are game effects written on cards in play that have an ongoing effect on the game state. Location cards also provide abilities and effects, but tend to have slightly more permanence in the game once played - unlike characters, which suffer many more ways of being killed or discarded, and attachments, which are equally susceptible to leaving play. Earliest English playing cards are very scarce. Few specimens have survived and little is known about the manufacturers; the best known are those of Hewson of the seventeenth century (circa 1675). The cards exhibit that geometric construction which characterises the English pattern and which has survived to the contemporary double-ended cards used today. Cf. Each house represents one of the main factions involved in the struggle for the Iron Throne emulated by the AGoT LCG.
