About this deal

The Fujifilm XP140 tough camera features a new processor, updated design and improved durability while maintaining a compact and lightweight body with a variety of automatic shooting functions. Bluetooth®*5 pairing and wireless LAN connectivity with smart devices*6 for automatic photo transfer and Instax printing

Among our most popular models are the Fujifilm X-S20, Fujifilm X-T5, Fujifilm X-H2, and Fujifilm X-H2S– each providing unique benefits and features suited to a variety of shooting situations and creative pursuits. The earlier XP130 could shoot a one-second ten frame burst of full resolution high quality JPEGs. The XP140 specifications say that’s reduced to a maximum 6 frames at 10fps, however I managed an 8-frame burst which you can see above. You can also shoot indefinitely at a lower rate of 3fps. The XP140 continuous shooting is a little better than the COOLPIX W150’s short 5fps burst, but if it’s fast, reliable continuous shooting in a rugged compact you’re looking for, the TOUGH TG-6 is what you want. The good news is that the XP140 retains the 1080/50/60p and 720/50/60p and adds 24fps video at 1080 and 720 resolutions in addition to a new square video mode. The XP140 also upgrades its predecessor’s low resolution slow motion video modes to 720p HD resolution. Other new features include a boosted maximum ISO sensitivity of 12800 ISO, a new Face auto self-timer mode and new ‘Rich & Fine’ and ‘Monochrome (NR)’ filters. Cameras like the XP140 make a lot of sense for family outings to the beach, where they can withstand a bit of abuse The Fujifilm XP140's sporty-looking faceplate is dominated by a large and obvious lens, adjacent to which is a familiar small porthole window for AF / self timer lamp, and next to that again, a lozenge shaped window housing the built-in flash (settings for which are boiled down to the essentials of auto on, off, forced flash and slow sync – you have to drill further into the menu to find the a red eye reduction on/off option). The Fujifilm FinePix XP140 has seven sensitivity settings ranging from ISO 100 to 6400 at full resolution. However, the maximum ISO 6400 sensitivity is only recorded at 8MP/3264x2448 pixel resolution

Apart from these key features, the main specs are the same as the previous model - there's a16 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, a wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens equivalent to 28-140mm in 35mm terms, and there is optical image stabilisation built-in, which moves the CMOS sensor to counter camera shake. CALS - Take pictures at size and image quality settings suitable for submission under Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism guidelines. A slightly odd addition! In our testing with the XP140 successfully avoided red-eye and the flash produced only minor wide-angle vignetting from a distance of 1.5m. Lenses – Should have no marks on the elements andoptically clear. There may be light dust present that will not effect theimagery. The Fujifilm FinePix XP140's lens will focus as close as 9cm from your subject, and does so reliably. As regards what is different this time around, when compared to previous generations of Fuji toughened cameras, the straight answer is not that much, save for the headline that, by being waterproof down to 25 metres, that's 125% better than the previous XP130 model.

Do this and a 'Fine' quality setting Large JPEG – the top setting – image is committed to memory in an instant. Unsurprisingly given the price tag here, the alternative (or even addition) of Raw file capture is not an option. Should the user want to shoot continuous bursts, the options here are at 3fps, 5fps or top tier 10fps. Capture your adventure: the best-selling Fujifilm XP series evolves further with the launch of the new XP140. The new model retains the 5x zoom and 16 Megapixel sensor of its predecessor in a body that looks very similar. In addition to improved waterproofing which adds 5 metres to the depth of the older model, the headline feature is a new 4K video mode. But before you get too excited about that, I’ll tell you straight away that with a maximum 15fps frame rate, you won’t be using it to capture action footage, or much else for that matter. The camera can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth, or directly to a Fujifilm Instax instant printer enabling you to directly print instant photos from the camera. Our used products are subject to wear and tear in comparison to brand new products. This also applies to accessories that are supplied with the camera including batteries which may have a lower optimum performance level/life expectancy.

Here’s the angle of view you get with the Finepix XP140 at its maximum 28mm wide angle setting. It’s a little bit wider than the 30mm COOLPIX W150 and not quite as wide as the 25mm TOUGH TG-6. I tried the earlier XP130 attached to my surfboard, but the angle of view wasn’t wide enough to fit me in and interestingly Fujifilm has dropped Action camera mode on the new model. That said, it’s plenty wide enough for group shots and small interiors. Sell the kit you’re not using to MPB. Trade in for the kit you need to create. Buy used, spend less and get more. Buy. Sell. Trade. Create. Beneath these again is a similarly 'old school' four-way control pad that features a menu/OK button at its centre and options ranged around it, spread between image delete or exposure compensation adjustment (a modest +/- 2EV), flash settings, self timer options plus 'Fn' function button, that in default mode brings up the Fuji XP140's key shooting modes and digital effects, in the absence of a dedicated shooting mode dial which would here of course compromise the camera's water and dust proof capabilities.
