About this deal

A commonly cited theory is that Bahamian cooks add so much local, goat pepper to the dish that it feels like your mouth is on fire. And (ever so dramatically) you’d require the emergency assistance of a fire brigade to squelch the flames. This recipe, derived from Little House By The Ferry (the blog of a Bahamian resident, Amanda, from Green Turtle Cay, Abaco), yields roughly six servings. The machine was behind a stud-partitioned wall and the brass helmets were still there along with the axes.

After attending the Glamis Vintage Vehicle Extravaganza that year where he saw Dennis Scott from Grampian Fire Brigade parade round the arena with his horse-drawn Shand Mason, Alan mentioned to colleagues that prior to joining the fire brigade in 1978, he had worked in Don & Low Ltd’s Canmore Works in Forfar and had spotted an old ‘steamer’ in the factory there. Road closures remain in place in the area and we'd ask that people continue to avoid the area at this time." Most interestingly, the name ‘Fire Engine’ has ambiguous origins. Like any good mystery, the more people you ask the more mislead you feel. We’ve narrowed our findings down to two of the most popular explanations you’ll encounter on the island:

David said: “Hilary was a larger than life character in Cupar. She had a shop there and had a lot of time for the community. Team members included Sub Officer Pete Sinclair, who was a keen motor enthusiast; Fireman Bruce Peters, who could turn his hand to anything from metal-work to joinery; Fireman Jim Forbes, a plumber by trade; Fireman Fred Cook, who was a dab hand with a hammer; Fireman Ewan McIntosh who was also a labourer and a great polisher of metal, and then Alan himself who describes his role as “more of a labourer and handy man”. Dennis Scott had offered to lend some period helmets, tunics, white lanyards and gloves along with any other pieces of equipment required. On medium-high heat, sweat the onion, green bell pepper, and celery in a large frying pan with canola oil until translucent

They’re under-funded and under-resourced. They have no government funding at all and totally rely on donations. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, owners must clear up after their dogs. Exhibit and insurance information After some discussion, Alan and his colleagues decided they should approach Dons to see if they could get access to their ‘fire engine’ with a view to restoring it. Among our favourite Bahamian soul foods is a dish called Fire Engine. Perhaps more widely recognized as Steamed Corned Beef, this traditional breakfast is an absolute staple in the diets and culture of The Bahamian people. Canned corned beef sauteed with a medley of diced veggies and served alongside generous portions of buttery grits or rice is a dish designed to keep you satisfied from your first delicious bite to your next meal. Join us in [eating and] discovering why Fire Engine is so popular among locals… The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received more than 65 calls about the fire and gave vital fire survival guidance to a number of residents before firefighters arrived. We built portable dams at the rear of the station and placed the wheels in the water to swell them again. Unfortunately, during this process the decorative gold leaf circling the wheels floated off.” Hard-working fire service team From time-to-time, other firefighters from the station, including the retained men, would drop in to see if they could give a hand. This salty, spicy, savoury comfort food (or local hangover cure) is typically served at breakfast but like any good staple can also be enjoyed for any meal of the day. Keeping costs low and energy high, the bread-basket, shelf-stable items that make up the core ingredients of the dish include: corned beef, tomato paste, corn kernels, seasonings, and grits or rice. Other ingredients of Fire Engine can be locally harvested or are easily accessible in the food markets, ie: onion, sweet pepper, celery, and tomatoes. Notably, a Fire Engine meal costs little to produce and keeps your belly warm and satisfied for a good while or at least until you’re ready to devour a second helping.

Don & Low’s predecessors Don Brothers originally bought the engine to help protect their textile operations in Forfar, in the event of them having an outbreak of fire in one of their factories. More information on the subject of e-mobility at Rosenbauer can be found at innovation.rosenbauer.com and on the Rosenbauer Blog. People in the area were advised to keep windows and doors closed whilst firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. All exhibits are displayed at the owner's risk, the organisers can and will accept no liability for any loss of or damage to any exhibit on the show field.

Reduce the stovetop to low heat, cover the frying pan with a fitted lid, and allow the ingredients to steam and flavours to develop for 15 minutes Hilary will be remembered by all and live on in Paraguay saving lives.” Engine ‘will be saving lives from day one’ Restoration crew with David Petrie. (L) to (R) Willie Smith, Jim Forbes, David Petrie, Ron Milne, Alan Rae, Peter Sinclair and Bruce Peters in 2016 Around 40 people left the building before firefighters arrived and around 20 people were led to safety by firefighters. Camping spaces must be booked in advance. Campers can arrive from Thursday 23rd June and must leave by the end of the day Monday 27th July 2022

Add all remaining ingredients into the frying pan, stirring regularly until the corned beef is heated through and becomes a smooth consistency Station Commander Steve Irvine, who has been at the scene, said: "A respite centre has been set up locally for those who have been affected by the fire and we are working with local partners. By this time they had formed a Vintage Section at Arbroath Fire Station with support from people from other stations. There is strictly no vehicle movement between 10:30am and 5:00pm, unless the exhibit is an operational service vehicle or is taking part in a demonstration. This is to protect the public and your exhibit. Judging information LFB said the electrified vehicle, developed by manufacturer Emergency One, has “minimal differences” to its 143 current fire engines. It has a range of more than 200 miles and can pump water continuously for four hours.
