We started using Ewan a month ago and it made a real difference pretty much straight away. This little purple sheep is such a comfor to Charlie, it’s like his best friend now, and comforts Charlie all day and night. I’m not going to say this sheep has worked miracles and that Charlie is now sleeping all night through, but he is much more settled and happier at bedtime. The strap is ideal for hanging Ollie onto the crib or your baby’s car seat.The sounds that your sleep aid makes is going to be one of the most important criteria for choosing your toy, because it all depends on what works for your little one. You can take Ewan The Dream Sheep wherever you want, thanks to the velcro tail strap. It’s not safe to have toys in the crib with your newborn baby due to the risks of suffocation, but that doesn’t mean this sleep aid can’t be there for your baby. Simply wrap its tail around the rail of your baby’s crib to keep it out of the way but still close enough to be effective to your baby. As you baby gets older these toys have other setting settings to play such as a vacuum cleaner, rainfall and musical settings to help your child relax and go to sleep. Another frustrating point is that Ewan The Dream Sheep cannot use rechargeable batteries and, therefore, you have to buy new ones fairly frequently. It adds up and is quite a nuisance. It has different settings, so you can keep a familiar item in the cot but play different melodies to mix things up and make sure there is variety. Also, the fact that Ollie has a built in rechargeable battery means that there are no further costs for constantly buying batteries (although of course it will use electricity to charge the battery). Ollie also has a greater number of sounds, and so seems to be the better choice all round.
We have actually had two of the dream sheep, as the first one (probably from how much we used it) slowly started not to work – with the buttons on the feet becoming less and less responsive. Other than that we’ve not had any issues at all, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cute comforter that can stay with the baby as they grow. Both Ewan and Ollie are seriously cute, so a comparison comes down to whether you prefer pastel shades or a bit of colour for your nursery!
Ollie and his friends Pip and Benny have a soft pink heart-shaped light in their tummies, with 3 levels of brightness that will switch off automatically after 30 minutes to save your batteries. Battery Life NOTE: If ewan is in 'try me' mode he will only play songs/activate for 2 minutes. Although this product is a sleep aid, it can easily turn into your child’s favorite toy. I have used a different product with my other boy for the past three years and I think I still prefer it in some ways. The other product has stars that project onto the ceiling, which helps him go to sleep as he watches them. I do, however, prefer the range of sounds on Ewan the sheep compared to the other products on the market, as they are more calming and less electronic sounding. I do think the peacefulness of the sounds and the visual aspect Ewan offers are better than all the other products I have seen on the market. However, with the other product I have used being half the price, I‘m not sure which one I would buy, as both have their pros and cons. Overall it is a fantastic product. Ewan’s unique feature is that he plays a womb and mother’s heartbeat sound, created from actual recordings. It also plays a vacuum cleaner sound, the sound of rain and some gentle harp music. The deluxe version also plays a shushing sound. Both of these toys can be attached to your baby’s cot, Ollie by a fabric loop and Ewan by his tail. However neither of these toys should be left loose in a young baby’s cot for safety reasons. When baby is a little older both will make a cute and cuddly toy.
