Meanwhile, in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, which has lost half of its corals in the past five years, an innovative project is putting the tourism industry, which is 90% reliant on the reef, at the heart not just of reef protection, but of actively healing the reef on which it depends. David Suggett, associate professor at the University of Technology Sydney, says: “We’re trying to build a more sustainable and resilient reef economy, by equipping workers with the skills and tools to propagate corals from the good parts of the reef to help rebuild the poor parts of the reef, so that the ecosystem they rely on for their livelihoods is retained.” Building on the launch of the first Coronation Woodlands this year, I am delighted that communities across the country will be able to create new spaces to enjoy trees which will serve as a permanent reminder of His Majesty’s Coronation in their local areas. Previous monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II, have taken the accession declaration oath at their first state opening of parliament. The Coronation Big Lunch will be overseen and organised by the Big Lunch team at the Eden Project. The Big Lunch is an idea from the Eden Project, made possible by The National Lottery, that brings millions of people together annually to boost community spirit, reduce loneliness and support charities and good causes. Her Majesty The Queen Consort has been Patron of the Big Lunch since 2013. Before 2,300 guests, King Charles and Queen Camilla went through the ancient rituals, with a twist of modern signals about diversity.

On Sunday, 7th May 2023, a special Coronation Concert will take place at Windsor Castle. Produced, staged and broadcast live by the BBC and BBC Studios, the Coronation Concert will bring global music icons and contemporary stars together in celebration of the historic occasion. One place to look would be the Gulf of Aqaba in the northern Red Sea. Due to a quirk of geology, the corals there have evolved adapted to harsh hot conditions, with the result that they are not simply heat-tolerant, they thrive better as the water heats, growing faster. Karine Kleinhaus, an associate professor at Stony Brook University, New York, says: “Most corals struggle to survive temperatures just 1C above the summer maximum, but Aqaba corals are super-thermally resilient, even in acidic waters, and cope with temperatures 6C – even 7C – hotter.”

The Coronation marks the beginning of a new chapter in our national story and it’s fitting that nature and the public will benefit from these lasting commemorations for years to come. As coverage declined, this had impacts on the species that are supported by coral. The biodiversity of reefs was found to have declined by 63%, while the abundance of fish species fell by 60%. The St. Edward's Crown, made in 1661, was placed on the head of The Queen during the Coronation service. It weighs 4 pounds and 12 ounces and is made of solid gold. Steps are being taken to protect coral reefs, with efforts to restore them through transplanted corals grown elsewhere, or to artificially cool them with pumps. We have a number of existing Nature for Climate Fund initiatives where local communities can engage with and receive the benefits of local tree planting, including:Put the eggs in a small pan of cold water, cover and bring to the boil. Once at boiling point, set a timer for 4 minutes for medium-size eggs, 5 minutes for large ones. Plunge straight into a bowl of cold water until cool enough to handle. Peel and halve or roughly chop. Defra will also provide support through two Q&A sessions that will be run by the Tree Council, where you can hear from the local authority officers who have piloted these projects. Defra colleagues will also be on hand to answer questions about the fund. Northern Territory – Indigenous (management methods) The Fisheries Act 1988 (NT), specifies that “…without derogating from any other law in force in the Territory, nothing in a provision of this Act or an instrument of a judicial or administrative character made under it limits the right of Aboriginals who have traditionally used the resources of an area of land or water in a traditional manner from continuing to use those resources in that area in that manner”. The Coronation service fell into six parts: the recognition, the oath, the anointing, the investiture (which includes the crowning), the enthronement and the homage.

Unbeaten in 16 races, this Italian-trained colt was sent out to land a King George and two Arcs at a time when the transport of horses was relatively primitive. He was tungsten tough, and for two seasons ruled Europe. His second victory in the Arc, by six lengths from a strong field, was one of the best in the history of the race. Commonwealth – Recreational The Australian Government does not manage recreational fishing in Commonwealth waters. Recreational fishing in Commonwealth waters is managed by the state or territory immediately adjacent to those waters, under its management regulations.Put the rice in a saucepan with 500ml of poaching liquid – top up with water if necessary. Stir in the turmeric, then add the bay leaf, about 20 parsley stalks and 3 strips of peel from the lemon – use a vegetable peeler to make these. Cover with a lid, bring to a fierce simmer and stir, then immediately turn the heat down to low and cook the rice for 11 minutes. Turn off the heat and don’t remove the lid for another 10 minutes. Warming temperatures are also a risk, as spikes in temperatures cause corals to eject the photosynthetic algae that live inside them. While these events, known as bleaching, are a normal stress response for corals, they are becoming more frequent. Repeated bleaching can cause corals to die. Alongside the stars of the concert, the show will also see an exclusive appearance from The Coronation Choir. This diverse group will be created from the nation’s keenest community choirs and amateur singers from across the United Kingdom, such as Refugee choirs, NHS choirs, LGBTQ+ singing groups and deaf signing choirs. A new documentary exploring the formation of The Coronation Choir will tell the stories of the people representing the many faces and voices of the country. The Coronation Choir will appear alongside The Virtual Choir, made up of singers from across the Commonwealth, for a special performance on the night.

We spent a day driving south of Geraldton, and after visiting the Greenough River Trail and Greenough itself, drove a little south to this beach. It's only 2km off the main highway, and the road is sealed all the way, with a gravel parking area. There's ample parking, a lookout, and toilet facilities. To celebrate the path’s gradual completion, a series of events will be held across England throughout the summer of 2023. Find out more about the events, or plan your route along the coastal path. Through the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan we want to be the first generation to leave the environment in a better state than we inherited it and for more people to get out and experience our incredible wildlife and landscapes in this Coronation year. One of the easiest winners of the Derby, his reputation rests on his victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. The 1965 race attracted arguably the strongest field of middle-distance thoroughbreds ever assembled in one field. The flashy chestnut sweated profusely in the parade ring and then wandered alarmingly in the closing stages, but won unforgettably by six lengths.Overfishing can also affect reefs; species such as parrotfish graze on coral-damaging algae.
