About this deal

At times I envision the process of coming home as a journey through rivers and valleys, over mountain tops and through forest. We begin at birth and end when we take our last breath. I want to believe that the moment we take our last breath on this side of the veil, we wake up on the other side. I want this to be true. And if this is true, maybe I’ll meet my son again. what makes this book special from other self-help books is the clear, intuitive way in which sheleana writes, and the way in which it is edited.

I have come home to myself these past months like never before. It hasn’t feltneat and tidy but it has felt like freedom. Instead, what we must do is wake up to what we are repressing, own what we are “putting out there,” and re-claim our inherent gifts, skills, and talents. It’s not that I feel qualified for a task this big and important or particularly skilled or knowledgeable about how to truly make an impact, only that I myself have felt desperately weary, battered, hungry, and in need of a resting place. My body has been scarred, my chest has been broken open, hands calloused, knees bloodied, heart raw, soul-weary, and I know what it is to need help, community care, sisterhood. They are always about what is to come. Sometimes what is to come in the next 20 minutes or hour, most often the next year or season, and sometimes, as with the vision I’m about to share, it takes decades to fully come to fruition. They often feel like gentle warnings – not fearful at all – but a call to attention. A knowing that urges me to live awake and on purpose. When I gently asked questions to the cold/uncaring qualities, the responses were enlightening. I heard: When we try to ignore or push away strong emotions, they have a tendency to hang around uninvited in our tense shoulders, shallow breathing, and tight jaws. With this practice from Sharon Salzberg, we gently turn toward uncomfortable sensations and feelings. This may seem counterintuitive at first, but when we bring nonjudgmental awareness to difficult emo- tions, we can see how they arise, change, and go. 3. A Meditation to Remind Yourself That You Are Enough from Jenée Johnson Coming home to myself requires truth-telling. Without truth-telling we cannot walk free. Without freedom we won’t find home. Truth telling breaks chains. It breaks the power of shame and comparison. It dissolves perfectionism, uproots fear, quiets the voice of our mean inner critic.

For the first time I began to recognize that this woman’s anger belonged to me, and what’s more, what I was seeing was just the tip of the iceberg. Embedded within the realms of self-discovery and inner peace is the profound power of healing and transformation. " Come Home to Yourself" delves into the intricate tapestry of emotional healing, providing insights and tools to foster personal growth. It was when I stopped searching for home within others / and lifted the foundations of home within myself / I found there were no roots more intimate / than those between a mind and body / that have decided to be whole.” — Rupi Kaur As a consequence, we try to hide what we believe is unacceptable. This pattern of behavior begins from the moment we are born. This is so important because we can live our whole lives estranged from this home within ourselves. It is within this context that " Come Home to Yourself" by Deja Rae emerges as a guiding beacon, illuminating the transformative path towards self-discovery, personal growth, and the cherished destination of inner peace.

So, come home, for it’s where the journey starts. Stop thinking that your happiness will depend on anyone. Stop thinking that the world will come around and make everyone of your wish come true. No, come home! The moment you feel at home with yourself, you can start the journey towards growth and personal transformation. I’ll leave you with a blessing from Irish poet and philosopher John O‘Donohue and his poem To Come Home to Yourself, from To Bless the Space Between Us: What we are actually doing is re-establishing these qualities and the energy inherent in them, to our psyche. Because of the power of the energy, this work is transformational. It can also be unnerving.
