Description

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is the best Chromebook overall, with a solid build, punchy keyboard, excellent performance, and battery life. Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues. With a price tag of Rs. 23,999, the Asus Chromebook Flip C214 is the perfect computing partner for those looking for an everyday, light workload-oriented notebook. Its combination of touch and type makes it a very good option for students who need to catch up on school and even college work online. There are alternatives available, most notably the HP Chromebook 11a, which is available at Rs 22,900 but has no touchscreen. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet, which brings a detachable keyboard and full HD display the battle at Rs 24,999. The dual stereo speakers on the device offer audio output that is loud and clear and add not just to the content viewing experience but are handy for Zoom sessions as well. The cameras could have been better, though. The HD camera above the display is substandard, while the secondary 5-megapixel camera below the keyboard, which can be used when the notebook is in stand mode, is just average.

ChromeOS devicesstill receiving automatic updates will function with Chrome Education Upgrade and Chrome Enterprise Upgrade. After devices receive their final automatic update, existing and future policies may not work as intended, and technical support will not be provided. Editors' Note, Oct. 4, 2023: In the original version of this review, the CM14 Flip registered a much shorter battery-life score. At the chip maker's behest we retested the CM14 Flip with a version of our test video (same resolution and frame rate) that fit locally on the internal storage rather than on an external USB drive, and the Chromebook posted a much more impressive runtime. We have tweaked the battery testing section of the review below to reflect this, removed a Con dinging the battery life, and upped the Editors' Rating to 3.5.] The ASUS Chromebook Flip C214 replaces the aging C213, and while most of the changes here are slight, they add up to one of the best Chromebooks on the market, whether or not you're a student. We've got a newer processor, a bigger battery, but it comes in a sleeker, lighter shell. Just like the C213, the C214 is covered in rubber bumpers and scratch-resistant textured finish, making it easy to grab and go.You can throw it into a bag, carry it around, place it on a desk, lounge on the bed or sofa, and still use it comfortably. It is rugged, tough, portable, and functional, all of which we think make for a great design, as opposed to just good looks. No port shortage

Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market. In my mind, I see two issues, with Chromebooks in general and the C214 in particular. First, there’s the obvious one: ChromeOS. ChromeOS is great if you live on the web, but as a learning platform, I think it falls short. If you want web apps, you have Safari and Chrome, and at the same time, you get a superior app ecosystem to explore, a better display, a better designed, more responsive UI, a powerful speaker, faster storage, and more. Getting a rugged case and keyboard will push the price over the 30k mark, however. You could also spend a smidge over 30k and get the power and flexibility of a real desktop OS like Windows 10 in a laptop powered by a powerful, 10th Gen Intel Core CPU or 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen APU. On a budget, and as a student-only device, there’s certainly an argument to be made for the C214, but I think it’s worth digging a little deeper and spending a little more on either an iPad or a laptop if you’re looking for long-term value. The webcam is barely adequate for video calls, with a lowball 720p resolution and blurry, blotchy images with noticeable noise or static. Colors are okay but all save the brightest rooms come across as dim. Asus brags about a feature called Face Auto Exposure, but I didn't see anything noteworthy from it: My face's skin tone looked accurate, but I was too pixelated to admire. Celeron N4020: A slow dual-core processor (SoC) of the Gemini Lake Refresh product family. The Celeron runs at 1.1 GHz to 2.8 GHz and features the DirectX 12 capable UHD Graphics 600 integrated graphics adapter. As a lower-end product, this CPU is designed for use in laptops and mini-PCs of the most affordable kind. We also run an Android CPU benchmark, the multi-core Geekbench by Primate Labs. For GPU measurement, we use GFXBench 5.0, which stress-tests both low-level routines like texturing and high-level, game-like image rendering that exercises graphics and compute shaders, reporting results in frames per second (fps).

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook is the best Chromebook for students and professionals who want a good design, build, and don’t want to spend much. Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List. For devices prior to 2021 that will receive extended updates, some features and services might not be supported. Google approved ChromeOS devices

The first looks of the Asus Chromebook Flip C214 suggest that the notebook is no different from your next-door Chromebook. However, a closer look will reveal the build quality of the device that helps it stand out. When we think of budget notebooks, one does not expect the greatest build quality. That is not at all the case with the Asus Flip C214. Asus has designed it to go through your daily drops and beatings. On the flip side (pun so thoroughly intended), the display of the Flip C214 is very responsive, which makes it very usable as a touchscreen. It would help if you were a tad careful while touching it to keep it from getting scratches and smudges, but other than that, it is quite bright and can be used outdoors comfortably. It can be tilted at different angles, which is a huge bonus and makes it a great device to consume content on, too, even though the resolution is low. Driven by two Cs – Celeron and Chrome OS The CM14 Flip is a well-made if cheap-feeling slab in a fingerprint-prone tint Asus calls Gray Green (more the former than the latter). It measures 0.72 by 12.8 by 8.9 inches and weighs 3.44 pounds, nearly identical to the 0.68 by 12.7 by 8.8 inches and 3.3 pounds of the more expensive, Editors' Choice-award-winning Acer Chromebook Spin 514. The Asus C423 and C523 Chromebooks are also priced in the same vicinity and come with a sleeker design but are less rugged and portable as they have larger displays. All in all, its rugged design, its touchscreen, and the option to revolve 360 degrees put the Asus Chromebook Flip C214 in a special zone of its own for the moment. If you are a student on a tight budget, this is one Chromebook worth flipping for. It is one of the few even if you flip it in the air (not too high, though!).

While its 14-inch touch screen thanks goodness for small favors with full HD (1,920-by-1,080-pixel) instead of a paltry 1,366-by-768 resolution, the CM14's other specifications are modest. Like many low-cost ChromeOS laptops, it has an Arm rather than Intel or AMD x86 processor—an eight-core MediaTek Kompanio 520 positioned below the Kompanio 1200 of the HP Chromebook x360 13b or for that matter the Kompanio 820 of the 12-inch Asus Chromebook Flip CM3 we reviewed in January 2022. The CM14's minimal 64GB of flash storage is joined by a diminutive 4GB of system RAM. A suitable multi-tasking device can often do more than your usual computing stuff. Because Chrome OS has Android app support, Chromebooks may also double as tablets. If you’re looking for a laptop that can work as a computer and tablet, you may want to look for the best touchscreen Chromebooks. A platform is a series of components that are designed to work together — something a manufacturer selects for any given device. To ensure compatibility with our updates, every four weekswe work with all the component manufacturers within a platform (processor, WiFi, etc.) to develop and to test the software on every single ChromeOS device. Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users. The ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip is the best gaming Chromebook. It is powerful, has a great screen, good audio, and fun gaming design. The model I received came with an EMR stylus, and it's been an addicting addition, whether using it to scroll through Reddit and precisely collapse comment threads, sketch languidly in Google Keep, or keep myself from fat-fingering the wrong tab closed during a research session. It's not a requirement to using the C214, but it's been very nice to use and I've only nibbled on it twice. The ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 is the best convertible Chromebook, with a 2-in-1 design, a solid experience, and great build quality.
