In terms of workmanship, Bluefin boards play in the top league. For a reasonable price, you get a high-quality board with the Bluefin Cruise (including extensive accessories). The Cruise is also very durable. The 12’ is the same width as the 10’8, so although the board can carry more weight, it feels very similar in terms of side-to-side wobbliness. Yes, that’s a non-technical term but hopefully that makes sense! So it’ll be wrong to think the 12’ is much more stable. The double-action pump worked well, which I used to finish off inflating the board when the electric pump couldn’t do anymore. Double action means it pumps air in when pulling up as well as pushing down. Their electric pump was easy and simple to use, and helped get the board started whilst I was faffing around getting changed. It’s not the most powerful electric pump but did OK.

As mentioned I’ve been paddling on this board for a few months, so would not feel comfortable making a judgement on long-term durability. But the build quality seems very good and there are certainly no signs to date that my opinion on that will change. It’s important to note that there are limits to the board’s tandem capacities. The stated weight limit is 353 pounds, so two large adults might be pushing it. With two lighter female testers and an adult dog on the board together, it appeared to be near the weight limit and sinking a bit. Weight limits are there for a reason and the board is definitely at its best below that limit. So keep that in mind when considering who might try to use the board together. The payoff for a board that is very wide is that it won’t ‘cut’ through the water and will feel like a barge, slow and unresponsive. On top of that something that is too easy to use means that you won’t progress your technique which helps with balance and board control. The middle ground of (almost) allround stability and (almost) touring gliding characteristics offers an excellent future perspective… even with improving skills. As you can see up here the design is more modern and over 10% lighter than the 2021 version. For me, this is surely an improvement. It might seem like the accessories have not changed at all, but this is actually not correct. Let me tell you about the differences between the new Bluefin Cruise and the Bluefin Cruise 2021.Improved kayak seat D-rings: the D-rings in the center of the board have been specially labeled and additionally protected with a rubber. The Cruise comes with everything needed to get you on the water straight away. The accessories are all very good quality, especially the carry bag. Along with all the standard paddleboard extras, the Bluefin Cruise comes with a kayak seat, an extra blade to convert your paddle for kayaking, a mobile phone waterproof case and a mount to attach your GoPro (or other action cameras). So with all this available, if you are looking to get on the water and have as much fun as possible, the Bluefin Cruise might well be the answer for you. Another reason to buy the 12’ is if you are planning on using this as the family board. If you’re likely to have a little one sitting on the front or multiple children splashing around on the board at one time, you will have far more fun with the 12’.

Tracking/Glide

The shaft is made of lightweight fiberglass, so it’s easy to handle, and the blade is made of glass-filled nylon, which helps reduce water resistance and makes your strokes smoother and more efficient. However, I’ve now been testing the Bluefin 10ft 8in Cruise paddle board kit for a couple of months and can report that it is far, far better than I had assumed. This board offers amazing value for money and I can personally guarantee you that for this money you will not be able to get a better board. Bluefin offers an amazing 5 year warranty on all of their boards! (only matched by Red Paddle). They also offer 1 year manufacturing warranty on the included accessories.

The coiled leash is shorter and stretches only when needed, so it automatically does not get entangled between your legs when paddling. Fins Even very small and light adults, as well as larger children and teenagers get along great with it. The narrower design makes it much easier for shorter paddlers to achieve a vertical paddle angle. The 10.4 board is also a bit narrower. While not advertised, we would estimate the weight of the 10.8ft Cruise paddleboard to be around 10kg/22lb. While it isn’t the lightest inflatable SUP out there, we highly rate the quality and durability and don’t have an issue with porting it to and from the shore. Is this Bluefin inflatable SUP suitable for using with a dog on board? The basic colors of the board are white and various shades of blue. In the area of the top, the manufacturer has applied its logo. The underside is white and has a blue design band running down the middle with the Bluefin lettering. This board is a bargain that you should want to get your hands in before they start raising the price!The Atoll paddleboard measures 11’ x 32” x 6”. It weighs 21 pounds and has a rider weight capacity of 400 pounds. (It has been tested at 700 pounds with multiple paddlers). The board is available in four colors. For some professionals cruising boards are nothing half and nothing whole…we completely disagree! For more ambitious beginners and paddlers who want or need to leave it at a single board, there are simply hardly more versatile models. Also included with the Bluefin 10’8’’ Cruise is a short leash, which you can attach to a D-ring and wear over your ankle or calf. This leash is helpful for preventing the board from drifting too far away from you if you fall off the SUP or want to take a swim, but don’t make the mistake of believing it will help you float any better. Make sure you stay safe by paddleboarding by always wearing a PFD, even in slow or shallow water. Repair Kit In terms of handling, all variants are now open to you from the very maneuverable 9.8 board to the long 12′ board with touring characteristics, all of which are also well suited for beginners. The 3 removable fins have always contributed to the versatility. This board is all-around so it is suitable for basically every activity you are looking for on a Stand Up Paddle board. The board could be used for a maximum weight of 287 lbs / 130 kg, for the new version this has been updated to 150 kg / 331 lbs. But I honestly think that is underestimated and you could surely get on this board with two people that have my weight (about 80 kg).

So if you want to have fun with your board for a long time, a Bluefin Cruise has always been the best choice. The fin setup is always decisive for the riding performance. And that’s where the 3 removable fins provide plenty of leeway. Second, the Bluefin Cruise Carbon has an additional separate air chamber. In the event of a serious accident where one air chamber is damaged, the other would be able to keep the board afloat on its own. Another thing that makes the Cruise 10’8 great for newbie paddlers is its size. It is of medium length and width. SUPers will find it very stable and easy to control. Learning how to attain and maintain balance as a beginner can be a challenge. It is advisable to get a wide board and 32 inches is just right.
