Lena definitely by no means the perfect person but she tries to understand and care for the people who've stopped caring for themselves given the amount of shit they've had to go through to be where they are, being expensed by the Republic who live more comfortable lives meanwhile. She tries her best to slowly bring change in everyone, from the Republic side to even the Eighty-Six in desiring happiness and showing them that there can be some hope for them to live on for. Lena's conversations with Shin and asking him any sort of wish he wants to fulfill was really nice and tender in that aspect. Even furthermore, established little later on when Shin got hurt in battle and had a cold attitude towards her, basically still undervaluing himself and his life as a whole and Lena just wanted to help him out and want him to be open to her. As I said in my last review, I think Viktor works as an interesting counterbalance to Lena since he can more readily relate to the 86 and advise her on how best to help them. This time around, he finds himself in an advisory role more than anything else and that helps present him as human to the audience and not just this untouchable genius.

This volume was definitely much more character focused, specifically on Lena and Shin's relationship. Of course there are still battles, but those battles served as a way to develop the characters. Sixth volume was out today and I feel like it was a very good volume all around, one of the better ones this series has released so far.
