But it's not long before the body of the mother Samantha is found amongst the debris which leaves the lingering questions 'Where is the father Michael? You can read these as standalones, but this installment is a little harder to get because it hasn’t been released in the US, so you have to get a foreign edition online. Y también me ha gustado que esta novela tiene algunas similitudes en estructura con ¿Quién se ha llevado a Daisy Mason? Hunter has a way of getting you invested in the glimpses of backstories, from Fawley's marriage, to Verity's family drama, and Somers' love life. By now I've gotten used to the writing style of Cara Hunter and the absence of definitive chapters, which I will admit I found a little jarring at first, instead the story unfolds almost like scenes from a play as piece by piece information is discovered and the team establish the facts surrounding this tragic case.

At the time of reading No Way Out I had not finished reading book two In the Dark so wasn't completely aware of the history as to how this change of roles came about, although it is hinted at, but as you'd expect when these types of role reversals happen it's always hard to accept change so it's no wonder there's resentment by Quinn towards his now superior. While the first two books in the series are available here, I had to get a UK version of the paperback for this one and I know I’m going to be going that route for book four, as well. I would like to thank NetGalley, Penguin Books UK and the author Cara Hunter for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. Ya lo sabes, si te gusta la novela policíaca con buen ritmo y no tienes la cabeza para ponerte con algo más denso, Cara Hunter es tu autora.

This is the non-university, non-tourist side of the city, where people live, work and have mainstream jobs. What makes this tragedy even worse is that all the evidence points to the fire having been started deliberately. My favourite feedback is when readers tell me it's like getting the raw material of the case, so they can be detectives themselves. Acting Detective Sergeant Gishingham heads up the day-to-day investigation, while he has to work with the man he replaced, DC Quinn who was demoted.

With the father not answering his phone and the family car gone, DI Adam Fawley proceeds to investigate as a lengthy fire investigation gets underway, and with every indication that the fire is no accident the team set about uncovering every aspect of the Esmonds’ life. Anyway, now I’ve established that I’m a huge Hunter advocate, No Way Out deserves its own special mention. Each personality shines through, especially if you’ve read about them before; for me, although you have the protagonist and it’s from his point of view, you still get the other characters who you get excited to see and hear from. But the author handles the distressing loss of a child under such horrific circumstances with great sensitivity.Cara Hunter, tal y como hizo en las anteriores novelas, intercala la narración con extractos de noticias de prensa, conversaciones de redes sociales, planos, fichas policiales de personas desaparecidas y así con un sinfín de información para complementar esta trepidante historia. Besides the points of view of Fawley and his team members – the likeable young Gislingham gets a starring role this time around – Hunter also presents the case to us through the eyes of the “gutter press” – various reports from the Oxford Mail are interspersed through the chapters – and from the public. Gripping from the first page and not letting you go until the last word, we’re reunited with the characters we love. No Way Out is the 3rd in the DI Adam Frawley series, and once again it’s a convoluted and traumatic case. It is fascinating how the elements are delicately revealed without a dramatic shift to the end game.

His brother, Phillip Esmond, is helping with enquires but Fawley suspects he may be hiding something. It's always a stand out aspect for me (check out a paper or hard back, not e-book, if you decide to read this series. You can read it as a standalone without revealing spoilers from the first two books, but if you’ve yet to pick up an Adam Fawley; just start from the beginning. Cara Hunter has a very unique writing style for the main characters and the added bonus of so much mixed media in her books. I read "Close to home" and "In the dark" before this one, and it is better for a context purpose and a deeper understanding of the plot. While it works well as a standalone mystery, No Way Out is, of course, best enjoyed as part of the Fawley series. Whilst I don't think this was as strong as the previous two in the series, it was still riveting to see how an investigation can change when new evidence comes to light. The Christmas holidays, and two children have just been pulled from the wreckage of their burning home in North Oxford.
