About this deal

During this time, in their family home, Rose would have men come to visit her in the bedroom upstairs, whilst the children were left to play in the rooms downstairs. I have long been interested in the case of Fred and Rose West, and this book, written by two of their older children, is the most comprehensive look at what life was like at 25 Cromwell Street that I have found. Yes, it is very graphic, but to hold back on that information would be to ignore what drove the two parents to kill again and again. It’s a chilling account of the crimes committed by Fred and Rosemary West, and a stark reminder of the cruelty that some people are capable of. Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment - opens in a new window or tab .

The book then concludes with a second Appendix publishing many of the letters that Fred and Rosemary West sent Stephen and Mae from prison (which makes for some surreal reading to say the least). Because the book is largely interviews from the perspective of Mae and Stephen West, it gives a fascinating insight into life with Fred and Rose West.

feel sorry 4 the children and also the poor victims and families+ who knows how many futher victims are buried- SHOCKING! Mae and Stephen West’s parents were two of Britain’s most notorious serial killers, Fred and Rose West, who brutally tortured and murdered 12 people, including two of their own children. A first-hand account of the events at 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester by the two oldest surviving children of the late Fred West and his wife Rosemary, who earlier this year were accused of the serial killing and torture of eighteen women and children. Stephen and Mae West take on a big challenge, writing about their family life from when they were small, all the way through to the trials of both Fred and Rosemary.

The style of the book is written in a rather childish way, but when the book was written Stephen and Mae would of been grown up. Tbh what I can't understand is HOW Mae still visits Rose and how mae +stephen have written this story sympathising with Rose +fred also. The best but of the whole book is the letters at the back of the book from Fred and Rose to Mae and Stephen. The book then goes on to describe Rosemary West, the woman who became his wife and accomplice in his crimes.

Although the section includes nowhere near as many of the gritty details surrounding Fred and Rose’s crimes, it still delivers one heck of a shocking punch – exposing the real emotional trauma to what happened and how Stephen and Mae tried to come to terms with what was now being uncovered in their own home. It is heartbreaking as you read the book not only the abuse that Stephen, mae and the other children went through but also the battle Stephen and mae have to go through balancing their loyalty to their parents and what was being said in the media and the trial. Super interesting to read about something that happened so close to home and strange to recognise a pot of the places written about. Written by their children, who were no doubt in the house during some of their more hideous crimes, adds a personal touch which adds more depth to the book and makes a more engaging read. Very much built around the uncovering of bodies and lengthy investigation into what went on, this second section reveals a vast amount of confusion and emotional conflict between Stephen and Mae.I feel its an engrossing and honest book and the loving letters from Rose to Mae sent a shiver down my spine she sounds like any loving mother expect she is imprisoned for Ten Murders. However I found it slightly difficult at some points as from the answers given and the way in which Mae and Stephen spoke you could clearly see they were not really in any fit state of mind and I felt somewhat guilty toward the end like this was merely published to capitalise from their torment. However having read books which were obviously published after I had some knowledge of the goings on already, what was nice to hear was Stephens view point in his own words. The book in principally divided into three definite sections, which (quite purposefully) reflect the three most important phases of Stephen and Mae’s lives. This book is and excellent read, written in the words of Stephen and Mae West, looking back at their family life then, up to the trial of their parents.
