About this deal

The book has been read, a selection of recipes tried and tested, and so without further ado, here is my comprehensive and independent review of Feed Me Vegan by Lucy Watson. I don't really eat sweet food so maybe too much coverage of cakes and sweets for us, but there's lots of main meals, breakfasts and a great selection of sides and sauces to make, and each section is fairly equally weighted. Recipes Include: Fry-Up, French Toast with Spiced Plums, Cauliflower Wings, Mushroom Mac and Cheese, Ultimate Cheeseburger, Pad Thai, Oreo Thickshake, Chocolate Fudge Cake, Hot Cinnamon Jam Doughnuts, Miso Aubergine and Mushroom Gyoza. If you’re holding my arm behind my back forcing me to say something then I think you could actually get away with cooking this for half the time or just dishing it up and popping it under the grill to melt the cheeze topping.

If I had to pick something, I’d say that they were ever so slightly dense so it’d be nice to lighten them up a bit. they're just extremely boring and kind of bland and theres absolutely nothing new or innovative in this book at all.To be honest that didn’t really bother me, it’s just that they look fluffier in the pan than they turn out to be. Love how the recipes cater to providing delicious alternatives to much loved comfort foods and home favourites! There were a few steps but nothing complicated – sauté onion, garlic and chilli with the spices, add beans and tomatoes and simmer for 15 mins. She encompasses this with everything she does including her two bestselling vegan cookbooks, Feed Me Vegan and Feed Me Vegan for All Occasions , as well as her vegan food range Feed Me Vegan.

The focus of this book is on vegan comfort food with veganised versions of classic meals such as pancakes, pizzas, lasagne, burgers, curries and cakes.

I like my chilli to have a nice thick sauce but after the allotted 15 minute cooking time it was still quite watery. I have been cooking for decades and don't need a lot of help with ideas in the kitchen, but sometimes especially with vegan it is just nice to open a book, follow instructions and have a meal turn out delicious. I wanted to have it out in my kitchen almost as a show piece but now it has to stay in a cupboard until I actually need to use it.
