About this deal

Dunhill Edition is a distinctively fresh scent with a sensation of texture, warmth, and masculinity. Great scent profile, good performance, good value for money and versatile; everything a good mens fragrance needs to be. Since Dunhill Blend wasn't launched until 1978, I think we've found the answer to the timeline of the vintage Dunhill's.

The full body experience blossoms from a carnation bouquet featuring lily-of-the-valley, clary sage and jasmine. I am in possession of a 7ml sample bottle of the original from 1984 and recently a 100ml bottle of a younger product. Dunhill Edition is one of the best values out there and a must try if you like your vetivers light but yet woody, clean, soapy and fresh. The old formulation opened with a fresh spicy citrus which was quite strong then it got woody and mossy in the dry down. The frosted glass bottle references our motoring heritage with a subtle relief pattern inspired by car engine components.

Opening notes are slightly zesty and floral but it eventually sattles down as very green vetiver, oak moss and cedar base. Finally, the addition of lavender, a classic masculine floral, provides a familiar note that ties the fragrance together. Clove and oakmoss, slight citrus on top and the geranium and nutmeg so beautifully interwoven, this, for me, is a man who knows himself and is unapologetic in his chivalry and grace though knows how to be forceful and persuasive when needs be. I'm working out of a small splash sample bottle of this, but based on what I smell, how in the world would this be compared with Guerlain Vetiver, Bijan, or Oscar for Men (1999)?

A pleasant enough aromatic men's fragrance from the 80s--I wonder if back then it had more oomph, because this just doesn't have it today, though the notes are very nice.you wont be knocking people over across the room with this for sure and longevity is also average, i get about 5 hours tops. Such comments are completely useless to me and whenever I am in dilema I Just go for the oppinion od People Who are using this fragrance for a long time. I honestly have not touched this in years, and perhaps wore it only once or twice at the time of purchase. Tobacco is not listed in the notes, but I definitely get a very nice warm, sweet, slightly ashy tobacco feel. Actually I find that if I spray enough of this on my pulse points or whatever, rather than applying it as a walk-through cloud, the performance is quite adequate anyway.

Considering what has been mentioned in this thread regarding the time frame of Edition being discontinued and then put back into production, how would my USA made bottle have a late 2011 date code? Still, outside of the licensing and distribution, where was the fragrance actually manufactured prior to 1997? Dunhill Edition Eau de Toilette Spray for men is an elegant and refined fragrance which opens with top notes of bergamot, lemon, lavender and nutmeg which is then blended with a heart of carnation, geranium, jasmine and clary sage all of which is rounded off with a base of vetiver, sandalwood, cedar and Tonka bean.

Yes, I know this whole thing has taken us way down a rabbit hole but I got curious and started seeing what I could uncover. I am trying this today is a sample and I like the opening notes which are very fresh but have a slight woodsy/spicy smell to them. This was my Signature scent back then from the age of 16-20, had this new bottle for the last 12 months, took me back to the 80’s upon first spray but then POW BUDDY THATS ALL you get, a bit of Nostalgia and next to zero else. I think I would have to purchase a bottle and truly get a spray rather than a dabber to see how this fragrance spreads. After applying after a shower I still smell it at least 8 hours later, maybe it just reacts well with me.
