About this deal

Nextbase provides two mounting options in the box: suction cup, or a 3M-supplied adhesive patch for a more permanent connection. DEGREE WIDE ANGLE: The 512GW offers 1440p HD recording capabilities at 30 frames per second, and 1080P recordings at 60fps through a 6-element glass lens to ensure a moment is not missed on the road. This is a great product fairly simple to fit all you have to do is rout the cable from the front camera to the rear window. WIFI CONNECTIVITY AND SMARTPHONE APP: The Wi-Fi feature in enables you to download and share video and photo files directly from the dash cam to your phone or tablet. It’s difficult to hide under rubber door and boot seals, and is also hard to manipulate around corners.

With instant evidence to back up any insurance claim, insurance company can not charge fee with you if the evidence shows you are innocent. However, unlike DDPai’s app where you can download a video while it plays on screen – you can stop once you’ve captured everything you need – you have to wait for a full three-minute clip to transfer.the speed on the GPS is a little slow to update not the end of the world but could show you speeding when in fact you have already slowed to the right speed. The 512GW (GPS WiFi) offers high-resolution video quality and a built-in WiFi system for easily accessing video clips on a smartphone. Although, when it isn't so bright (when driving through the village in the above video), the footage is a bit lighter and you can see details like reg plates. However, with the rear cam attached, the footage quality drops from 1440P to 1080P, which means footage can become very dark (as you'll see in the video lower down in this review. Only one of the quick-release mounts is included in the package, however; you’ll have to attach the ball joint to whichever screen attachment you decide to use.

If you don't clip it up, you could end up with the cable running from the front to the back of your car - which is another reason to recommend hardwiring. By connecting the GWRC (rear cam), you get front and rear footage saved onto one SD card, both recording decent 1080P quality footage. Other cables we’ve seen have been significantly thinner, and it’s hard to conclude Nextbase chose this because if offered better quality. If the battery lasts for less than 3 minutes, the battery may have reached the end of it's lifespan.Perfect solution would be to assume a default position for rear PiP so no question is asked at power up, and add the ability to change the default PiP position to the menu system (left/right/never).
