My “visions” are like seeing a vivid movie play out in my mind and hearing a resounding message or voice deep within me. So how do we begin walking back around the outer reaches of the spiral towards the center gathering the pieces of ourselves as we go? There are numerous ways we can go home to ourselves: by being aware of our breath, by being aware of body sensations or bodily movements, and by connecting with the reality around us, like the sounds in our environment. There are many great spiritual practices and tools for uncovering the parts of us we have pushed aside, and there are many Shamanic rituals for soul retrievals, but here is one of my personal favorites.

The things we learn not to like, we disown—a part of our body that we perceive to be ugly; our desires, anger, or emotions that we were once chastised for. This feeling of being homesick is simply an experience along a soul’s journey, and our awareness of it becomes a turning point. By doing so, Déjà Rae shows that the love we are all looking for has always been inside of us, patiently waiting for us to come home. In doing so, she shows each of us how when we walk through our own process of “unfolding,” though it may be uncomfortable at times, there is light on the other side. During my time in India, I wrote in my journal, contemplated each experience, and asked the shadow to be revealed in dreams.Before the world has a chance to tell you how your day is going to go, tell yourself how you want to feel and live this day. I became my own best friend, decided to approve of myself – to like and love all of me – I found my voice and put down deep, strong roots of self-compassion. With the advent of global travel, the idea of homesickness, however, became almost juvenile—something children experience at camp perhaps—and the notion that ‘home’ is more of a feeling than a place lost credibility altogether. If you no longer want to accept less in life, if you know there is more to you and life, if you want to finally back, support, trust and believe in yourself then this is the course for you. Before you cater to everyone else, ask yourself what it is YOU could do today to be at home within yourself.

While these practices are a beneficial and beautiful support for stilling the mind, entering presence, and becoming aware of resistances, they are not “it.

Sometimes what is to come in the next 20 minutes or hour, most often the next year or season, and sometimes, as with the vision I’m about to share, it takes decades to fully come to fruition.
