I could still access the dongle's Wi-Fi, but the browser settings page wouldn’t let me hard reset, so I had to use the old paper-clip-stuck-in-the-recessed-button-slot reset—Ottocast is one of the few to have that option. At this point the phone’s Wi-Fi switch in control center will go white and you will be disconnected from any network you were previously on. Tempted as I was to change this by spelunking into the settings, I learned my lesson when testing other dongles. It seems to cut short everything it says whether it is texting, creating directions, or dialing the phone. I personally don’t find this to be a huge deal, but I think native CarPlay from Kia should probably disconnect instantly. I have read some people say the audio is improved on this particular dongle, but personally, I couldn’t notice any difference, and I have found the audio to be generally fine on all the dongles I have reviewed. I use mine without a SIM card, but instead hot spot it to my phone when I need Data for streaming services or app upgrades. At the time of its crashing, the dongle was running quite hot, and the heat did feel more on the opposite side of the grilled top casing, which must mean the small holes at the top of its case is doing something to help reduce any heat from building up inside the dongle casing. But as you start sharing your car with your family and that family insists on sticking to iPhones, things change fast.
