About this deal

Sound designer, voice actor, musician and beyond who just has a big passion for conversations, knowledge sharing, connecting people and bringing some positivity into the world. While they don’t bring anything particularly new or innovative to the table, the sound quality is exemplary, and the feature set brings them in line with our modern needs for streaming and podcasting. Designed to handle the demands of the modern producer on the go, the iD4 MKII 2-Channel Interface is presented with an all-metal design, guaranteeing to deliver sturdy performance for years to come.

The majority of the connections are on the back with just the instrument input and dual headphone socket falling past the front edge’s smooth curve. The Audient iD4 mkII USB Audio Interface delivers professional audio performance in a compact and modern desktop package. The bumpy lumpiness that feels good when using it as a volume control feels less so when controlling knobs.Featuring an Audient Console mic pre, class-leading converters, dual headphone outputs, and a JFET Instrument Input, iD4 gives you everything you need to create studio-quality recordings at home. The microphone inputs, based on the Audient ASP8024‑HE console, were clear, spacious and noise‑free. MusicRadar verdict: The iD4 provides a solid uplift on its predecessor and although the feature set is pretty basic, there’s quality where it counts. The ScrollControl function can be useful, and most DAW functions support mouse‑scrolling on parameters, although many virtual instruments do not. A built-in monitor mix allows for the blending of direct input and DAW playback offering near-zero latency while recording, ideal to quickly blend between them to start recording along with your multitrack instantly.

The Audient ID4 MkII combines form and function with two headphone outputs powered by a Class-AB headphone amp and a volume encoder with iD ScrollControl virtual scroll wheel which lets you control DAW hosts, plug-in parameters and even navigate through the iTunes library. No need to find a power outlet as iD4 is powered directly from your computer via USB, without compromising on sound quality or performance. Plug the USB hub into the USB port on the Camera Adapter kit, and connect the kit to your iOS device (to charge the iOS device, you can plug a charging cable into a port on the SB hub and camera kit as well). KMR Audio Ltd is a credit broker and is Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. I even tend to find that when I ask people what budget interfaces they are using, it’s very common for them to say the Audient iD4 or the Scarlett 2i2.

The mic pre is Audient’s long established 8024 Class A circuit and the instrument input is a JFET design. See pages 24 - 28 in the iD4 MKII Manual for information on setting up the iD4 with some common DAWs.

I want to say it offers a more refined level of control than a mouse wheel, but it’s just too lumpy.

Ensuring the finest recording experience straight out of the box, the Audient iD4 MKII includes the same preamps that are in the ASP8024-HE console, a piece of gear that's highly regarded for its next-to-nothing noise and distortion.

The iD4 can simply be connected directly to the iOS device with a USB-C port using a USB-C to USB-C cable. On the top you have individual gain control over the inputs, some fleeting LED meters and that iD multi‑purpose encoder which handles volume and has a special power we’ll come on to in a minute. Equipped with both a jack and mini-jack connection and a powerful headphone amp capable of driving headphones up to 600 ohms, the iD4 is ready to take on the most demanding recording sessions. The Audient ID4 MkII is a compact 2-in 2-out usb audio interface with the superb Audient's console mic pre, excellent AD/DA Converters and zero -latency monitoring. The knobs are reasonably solid with a little bit of give in the large encoder, and it does have a nicely satisfying bump as it turns.the sound quality is exemplary, and the feature set brings them in line with our modern needs for streaming and podcasting. But I can't get used to this combination of infinity level pot (with not very useful visual feedback), and the rather coarse input/DAW mix pot.
