I know I often revert to my insecure teenage self when I'm around those who intimidated me as a teen and that feeling was easy for me to relate to, whether or not it was intended to be that way. Destiny is the latter, and even though she spends most of her afternoons around handsome football stars they are not allowed to date her. Josh and Beth have known each other forever and they both find their lives going differently than they expected, which of course brings them both back home to Honey Grove and into each other's lives. I saw a tik tok recommendation for this book a few months ago but lost it and have wanted to read it ever since. But as Beth's feelings grow, she realizes she can't both respect her mother's wishes of keeping her cancer a secret and let Josh into her life like she so desperately wants to.

If this is indicative of how the Braxton Brothers series is crafted, it is not well written enough for me to continue reading. Beth Johnson is back home in Honey Grove after losing her job and getting dumped by her longtime boyfriend. Meyer began writing in 2012 but it was not until five years later that she published her first novel. What confuses her is that when she decides to run away she finds herself running to the person she had once sworn never to let into her life. She also gets a lot from “The Writing Gals” group, where they share insights on what works and what does not.

Logan is trying to adjust to his father's death, being a single dad, and his new status as a billionaire. She blames Miles for something that isn't his fault, like, the fact that her boyfriend left her, even if Miles talked to him and that's what made him leave her, is not Miles fault. Ultimately, the protagonists proclaim their love for one another after 2 or 3 days having done nothing more than hold hands once or twice.

The latter came crashing down when Principal Connell asked her to help lead Cade turn his life around. I know I am a fast reader, but I felt like I read this book super fast, and I just felt like it was because there wasn’t a whole lot of meat to it. A well written story that draws you in and makes you want to not put it down, the characters love for their families and the emotional upheaval in their lives really comes to life and has you cheering and almost crying with them.I was alternating between feeling sorry for Beth, and wondering why she didn't just tell Josh the secret. Yes, I'd fall asleep as many pages in as I could force myself to stay awake for, but I just had to keep reading. It’s not even a cliffhanger the story just moves onto a second book that should just be a part of this one.

With their past hurt lingering on their minds, both are left to decide if love is worth fighting for or if being together just isn’t in the cards for them. Especially when his love for his daughter is contagious, or the way he looks at me when he doesn't know I see him. While Anne-Marie Meyer never thought she would become an author, she always loved reading romance novels. Tbh this book was never in my TBR but i just couldn't sleep and it was the only book that i got in my phone. She is a lovely woman and a good friend, but she is a side-character with no major influence on the story.

Since she had once had a goal of publishing a novel when she was in her teenage years, she decided to finally pursue it. I prefer the story to be somewhat resolved and, if I choose to, I can read the next book in the series to learn more. Writing in the first person and getting into young people’s heads has always been a lot of fun and this is what she knows how to do. And if you're trying to portray Miles as an actual caring single father, the way his relationship with his daughter is written seems like an afterthought.
