She spends her days reading comics about alien invasions, doodling UFOs, watching B-movies about Earth being invaded by creatures from Mars… and gazing at the stars through her old, battered telescope. Accompanied by doodles and aiding visuals this book will help you visualise all of its gritty details and add more clarity to the narrative.

Best-known for his novels for children including Mr Stink, Billionaire Boy and Awful Auntie, Walliams has also written a number of picture books including The Slightly Annoying Elephant, working with two of Britain’s most talented illustrators, Quentin Blake and Tony Ross. Some of the scenes are drawn like a children’s comic book and I especially loved his illustration for Spaceboy with his metal head and flowing cape. An alien on earth is news and the Spaceboy even makes it to The White House to meet a rotund President with an orange face who may or may not seem familiar to many readers. One night, using the telescope she's scavenged to watch the stars, Ruth is astounded to see an ACTUAL UFO crashing near the farm.I enjoyed the spaceboy my favourite bit was when Ruth sed to ant Dorothy don,t be a dork and the best bit was when they where in the space ship and Kevin sed the countdown and it was very funny when Yuri the dog bit Kevin,s Grampa in the bum and another funny bit when the president of USA hit the golf ball at the major majors back of his head and then hi was nocked out and then fell on all his batches on the floor then it was funny when I saw the president hi was ferry little The president and then there was a slave who was as taller then the president. This one did have Roald Dahl vibes with the orphaned children and nasty relatives, and of course we have the token bad guy. I've lost count of how many David Walliams books I've read now (all with my 10yo) but this one has been my favourite so far.

Named after the space hero, crippled little Yuri’s fourth leg consisted of a battered egg whisk attached by a leather strap, but he possessed the heart of a lion and the bravery of his namesake. The different fonts and sizes and sound effects are such a pain to read aloud and let's be honest are little more than padding. The night sky is the only pleasure Ruth gets since she was left as an orphan on her evil aunt's steps. During the very time that the two superpowers, America, and Russia, were involved in the race for space, a twelve-year-old orphan girl, Ruth, was living with her aunt on an ostrich farm.We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. I had to look up other books by David Wallace, and next on our bookshelves is GANGSTA GRANNY and CODE NAME BANANAS. A helter skelter chase follows on ostrich back and more with all of Walliam’s sound effects decorating the text. However, when the soldier announces that they are flying to meet the President, the situation seems to be getting out of control. I loved the writing, the story, the characters, and the illustrations and that is why I can easily see this book becoming a fast favourite with young readers. i love your characters your my favourite author i have read gangster granny, billionare boy, the midnight gang , bad dad, and demon dentist. His debut children's novel, The Boy in the Dress, was published in 2008 to unanimous critical acclaim and he has since developed a reputation as a natural successor to Roald Dahl. He also jabs a punch of humour on the state of society, government and politics which makes you double over with laughter. Some cultural stereotypes crop up as well which I believe Walliams has also been pulled up on in his World's Worst Children/Teachers books. Pretty much every page was just a load of silly speech full of puns and jokes, and there was barely anything serious. I haven't particularly recommended a Walliams book before due to the questionable characters and themes but I would say this one is worth a read!

She sees the UFO crash then burst into flames and tiptoes up to try and help whoever might be inside.I also loved all the illustrations because they helped bring the story to life, especially the ones at the end. As always, Walliams’ text, in combination with illustrations by Adam Stower, is both heartwarming and hilarious, perfect reading material for readers of eight years and older. After reluctantly taking in her orphaned relative Ruth, Aunt Dorothy put her straight to work on the farm.
