About this deal

The pace of the book was mainly just right, however I found the flashback chapters interrupted the story unnecessarily. Her second novel, Parklife (the sequel to The Twenty Seven Club), delves into addiction, recovery, friendship and hope, and is set against a backdrop of Northern life and 90s Brit Pop. Manners cost nothing, her mother always said … yet there’s a fine line between diplomat and doormat. Mierne stagnujúci a predvídavý dej vyvážila perfektne ľudská hlavná hrdinka, ktorú som si veľmi obľúbila. It’s easy to rebrand these complicated social dances as consideration or even politeness, but probably more honest to recognize how often they concern the self: perception, protection.

She says that there are three steps to building confidence: "Build your capacity to be resilient, identify your emotional triggers, and set and maintain boundaries. All in all, not my cup of tea, if the author concentrated more on the story and less time ‘trying’ to be funny, I would probably enjoyed it. Realising that they felt this way too was reassuring, but worrying – when does the self-doubt ever stop? Charlotte was everything — she gave me so much catharsis and also gave us a brilliant chance to indulge in a sweet little romance with a streak of feminist fury and personal growth.Wouldn’t it be nice, we agreed, to simply ask for what we wanted in a straightforward way, and accept the answer without expectation? And then you'll be thoroughly entertained with not only the Girls Aloud fan club , but some poetry which is accessible, quick-witted, and relatable. The book is written in a way that takes the reader through an emotional rollercoaster - I found myself enraged, laughing, feeling such sadness - all because of this book. I loved how the author used humour to cleverly get across many messages about the shit that women put up with. I didn't understand the point of the flashbacks to the narrators' youth, if you take them out of the book, the story remains the same, I didn't find them all that relevant.

When directness is scandalized to this extent—when “no worries if not” means, literally, “worries if not”—communication becomes opaque and lawless, like a foreign language composed entirely of irregular verbs. While men aren’t immune from the “no worries” epidemic – Love Island’s Hugo used it in an awkward exchange with Chloe, it’s been widely noted that the phrase is most commonly used by women. As self-awareness and social performance become supercharged by mass media, the risk of keeping the peace this way is that we become detached from our own fates.
