Coordinate the layout, manage the residents, gather resources, produce goods, and trade to help the community grow and prosper. It’s been brought up that the white on white approach the game has doesn’t really work all that well. The stories in the game accomplish two things: First, It provides a reason for you to be where you are, even if it doesn’t provide much of a motivation. One aspect that I found frustrating was being able to simply walk through deep lakes as if they were a forest.

Cut down trees, collect resources and explore mysterious caves: you will find something new to discover everywhere. Found a family and have a heir - entice others to live near and work for you, erect many other buildings to transform your settlement into a vibrant village and, ultimately, a thriving dynasty that will reign for generations.

Survival: The need to survive, feed and ensure survival through hunting, farming and cultivation of the land. Like some sort of peasant Animal Crossing, Medieval Dynasty casts us in the role of mayor of Dysentery Village. If you have a lot of free time (50-60 hours seem like a reasonable minimum) and are in no hurry, if you enjoy very complex, immersive games, if you’re willing to overlook numerous bugs and glitches and don’t mind a bland story – Medieval Dynasty is for you.The point of the game, story-wise is to survive beyond your original character, or to create and actual dynasty. I mentioned the earlier problem with the lack of swimming character animation, it really should have been implemented as it feels somewhat lazy from the developers to not have this included.

The story is missing synchronization and traveling the vast distances between villages is exhausting because of missing fast travel points. Now, this is where Medieval Dynasty shines the brightest, at least if you are into hardcore survival. Subdue nature and use the ever-changing environment to create a monument to yourself and your successors for eternity. There are 25+ different types of buildings with different levels waiting to be built, expanded and decorated by you, from sheds and simple huts to high-end stone houses that resist the ravages of time. You can sometimes get more than what you can handle in Medieval Dynasty, or it can at least feel like it at first when getting started.

A wooden axe will be your first craftable item, allowing you to cut down trees and make everything you need to start building. Namely, some assets would unload when you walked away from them while still having them on your line of sight. As you hunt for food, gather resources, and craft equipment, build a house, establish a thriving village, and start a family, you’ll experience many unique gameplay experiences across genres.
