Using an x-acto knive and a cuting matt with a ruler prooved to be helpfull to have a variation in the strips. However, the plastic cover for the wiring does not fit flush and therefore we cannot leave it like this for our 11 year olds room. I only disassembled the tiles (by using a small flat headed screwdriver to gently pry up the clip a little and then wiggle the tile away from the arm) I doubt the internal mechanism will come apart easily and I did not want to snap it! This project was floating around the internet for a while and I was always faszinated by the Death Star idea.Again the paint ran a little here (getting under the edges as the tape was not flat all the way around the light fitting due to the flex and movement of the fitting.
