About this deal

I might have been a little off on the pricing but for the amount of stuff in this box vs Individual MSRP, it’s gonna be a good purchase if you’re an Astra Militarum player. Rockfish: Now this is something that you used to have to look into the forgeworld range to get for the army, big gun batteries not on a vehicle! Despite their planet being blown up, the Cadian Shock Troops are back with a completely new model range. This absolute numeracy provides the Guard with its main power; their ability to deploy in superior numbers that, eventually, result in victory.

The legs are probably the closest visual element with everything else striking the same notes but with a distinctly modern spin. Absolutely everything contained within is currently only available in this set – and won’t be sold separately until next year.

You’ll end up building the Scout version as you’re building the Armored version because both kits use the same roll cage.

The design has been completely updated, the fatigues have become more detailed: the trousers now have sewn-on knee pads, the boots are covered by leather gaiters, and the sleeves end in cuffs. Scott: These models are of amazing quality, but that’s just what you can expect when you’re updating a model that’s nearly two decades old. Some of these are themed after iconic regiments, but you’re free to pick and combine whichever you like the most. All in all, these are the most profound changes to the Astra Militarum army list since the change from the Imperial Guard codex of the 3rd to the 4th edition. All of the kits are largely monopose style with some very slight variations, but I suspect we’ll have a release with a more pose-able stand-alone box later. The new Astra Militarum Codex has over 150 pages, and has been produced for the army set with an exclusive soft touch cover. A hobbyist, player, and collector of miniatures and games, Adam's current obsession are his Death Armies for Age of Sigmar, his Blood Angels and Tyranids for 40k, and his ever growing Arkham Horror: The Card Game Collection. I have a feeling that would be a ‘realistic’ detail to have but that would probably result in less clean of a design so I don’t mind over much. The Astra Militarum Army Set brings you a fearsome army of Cadian soldiers, all with redesigned and new multipart plastic kits, suitable both for brand new projects and bolstering existing collections. The sergeant can get a bolt pistol or laspistol, or a pointing arm, as well as a chainsword, or alternatively a drum-fed autogun.

The models come on three medium size sprues that build two models, the bases have a massive 100mm diameter. On the upside, you’re unlikely to take multiple of this squad, so you’ll only have to grind through once, and they wont be obviously repeating in your army. Despite all that is set against them the Imperial Guard, as they are otherwise known, use deadly war machines and rely on the courage of their guardsmen to shield humanity. They are all in bigger than life war movies stances, with the first instances of a few interesting poses I’ve encountered, like the one that is mid stride with a little tuft of something as the connection point. Jack: These are the only models I’ve had a chance to build so far, and I’ve got somewhat mixed feelings. A few models very noticeably have their sleeves rolled up, so you might need to get creative if you’re trying to dodge painting flesh at all.
