The aromas are intensely aromatic, featuring citrus notes, white fruits like pear, and herbaceous hints of fennel. Most Rioja wines receive oak treatment, which gives them their signature vanilla and sweet spice flavours.

Over two years in French oak barrels, the wine gradually develops its trademark depth and complexity, furthered by spending three years in bottle prior to release. This is a slow and controlled process, enabling all the colour and aroma from the grapes to be extracted. Beronia pioneered the use of mixed oak barrels - a combination of American oak staves with French oak ends, resulting in a unique combination of aromas and flavours. The Cantabrian mountains to the north of the region protect the vineyards from the harsh Atlantic-derived weather, and Rioja enjoys a warm, dry climate. Their winery is located in the Rioja Alta sub-region of Rioja, where over 900 hectares of vines are planted on typical terraces across the three main soil types of the area; clay-lime [great aging potential], clay-ferrous [good for developing grippy tannins seen in Rioja's finest reds] and alluvial [lighter wines with distinct fruity characteristics]. On the palate balanced and sweet with the fruit and liquorice standing out over a base of chocolate and coffee.But experience warns us not to promise that this will always happen, so if you need something by a certain date, give us a ring, and we will do our best to ensure it happens. All of the vineyards are located less than 10 kilometers from the winery, and the age of the vines are between 20 and 100 years.
