About this deal

I always love a strong female lead, especially one who is performing in an area usually reserved for the macho male character. The Ransom is a well written and suspenseful kidnapping thriller with a little bit of romance threw in it.

Tough and likeable" ( Foreword Reviews) Nicole Graves finds herself in the crosshairs when she reluctantly agrees to babysit a witness in a high-profile rape trial. The Bequest is a delightful read; definitely a cozy mystery—easy to recline in the summer shade with a favorite beverage and quickly pass the hours following the adventures of the story’s protagonist, Nicole Graves. She works with the police, but the kidnappers are always one step ahead and not pleased with the inclusion of law enforcement. Except for Winged Victory and a few splotches of color on some abstract paintings, the decor was completely neutral. Before turning to mysteries, Nancy coauthored Backroom Politics, a New York Times notable book, with her husband, Bill Boyarsky. Of course, a novel set in America written by an American, can miss the spot with some readers in other English speaking countries. Nancy Boyarsky's writing has been praised as "well-crafted, tautly-written" by James Lilliefors, author of the Amy Hunter novels The Psalmist and The Tempest, and "thoroughly entertaining and unforgettable" by Dave Edlund, USA TODAY bestselling author of the Peter Savage Novels.

On the way back to work, Nicole considered what Antonia had told her about the women sharing—sometimes stealing—each other’s household help, yard maintenance workers, and Chip, the personal trainer. At last she went to bed and tossed fitfully, sleeping on and off until her eyes popped open and she was wide awake. There were plenty of what-if’s thrown at the reader and I was looking forward to Nicole solving the mystery. She’s only a year old, but they had the trainer every week from the start so she wouldn’t jump on Ashley and mess up her clothes.

A. This made her job infinitely easier than having to track down someone with a common name, like a Jane Smith or a Robert Jones. In the previous kidnappings, the wife had been taken while the husband was left drugged, tied up, but otherwise unharmed. It showed three men in hoodies and ski masks carrying Ashley, limp and apparently unconscious, out of the house. I had no difficulty at all reading this book with its American cultures etc - I simply enjoyed being in Nicole’s shoes as she solved the mystery. But things get complicated after someone associated with another kidnapping is killed, one of the other victims goes missing, the police get involved, and Nicole’s money drop is not picked up… twice! The following person has been designated to handle inquiries regarding the non-discrimination policies: Michelle White-Godinet, Title IX Equal Opportunity Director, Washburn University, 1700 SW College Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66621, 785. What I love, though, is that despite the pain and ugliness she must encounter regularly, she maintains her empathy, her humanity, and her ability to emote. Author Nancy Boyarsky has given us the fourth iteration of her Nicole Graves Mysteries series, with The Ransom: A Nicole Graves Mystery. Since she has helped him on cases on occasion, she starts looking for him and things get really wild from there.

Yes, Nicole did make love with this character but there is no gritty, steamy sex scenes to read through.Boyarsky's weightless complications expertly combine menace with bling, making the heroine's adventures both nightmarish and dreamy. As evidence stacks up against Abigail, Nicole discovers that she herself has become the next target.
