About this deal

I’ve also discovered we have a visiting hedgehog, so thrilled that my garden is now a greener and safer place for the wildlife. Slug Killer , which contains natural nematodes (Phasmarhabditis Californica) , that are effective at controlling slugs, but unlike chemical controls, are safe for children, pets, birds and wildlife. It works at relatively low temperatures and unlike chemical pellets it remains effective under wet conditions. Slugs come in many shapes and sizes and are commonplace around the garden, particularly in damp conditions. One application of Nemaslug will provide at least six weeks control of slugs, we recommend that you re-apply every 6 weeks for the ultimate protection from slugs.

If you start applying nemaslug early in the season, you can target the young slugs growing under the ground.

Thanks for the question and snails are much harder to kill than slugs but the nematodes will work especially on the young snails, so keep applying them and as the older snails die / are predated on, if there are less young snails, then your numbers will decrease. As the saying goes, the early bird gets the worm, and in your case, the early gardener gets the rhubarb. You will know if you have slugs in your garden if there are bite chunks missing from your crop or their leaves. An individual grey field slug has the potential to produce 90,000 grandchildren and has approximately 27,000 teeth! Control slugs NATURALLY by applying Nemaslug Slug Killer, which contains natural nematodes, that are effective at controlling slugs, but unlike chemical controls, are safe for children, pets, birds and wildlife.

Within a few days of the product being used I have noticed signs that slugs activity is slowing down. Our range of slug and snail control are all organic with no threat to children, pets, birds or hedgehogs and will not introduce chemicals to the food chain. Apply once daytime soil temps are above 5°c/40°f, so apply UNDERGLASS all year round OR apply OUTDOORS during the growing season . Consider having a 'dry' run first with clean water so you know what pace to walk at to ensure an even application of Nemaslug.

Garlic, chilli and cinnamon stinky spray- good but only as long as the rain doesn’t wash it off the leaves ( works really well on Hosta leaves in the summertime)Pellets- very effective but I don’t like putting poison into the environment and worry about the birds/ hedgehogs eating the poisoned pests. I’ve always found your products to be of good quality and have always been pleased with my past purchases.

There is a manufacuturing issue with BASF nematodes so these are not available until end of Feb 2024. If your seeds do not seem to have germinated, it is possible that slugs have devoured the emerging seedlings underground. The nematodes need to infect the slug, this may take a few days, the slug will then stop feeding and die. Treats small to medium gardens up to 40 Square meters so your flowers, vegetables and fruit are left for you to enjoy and not the slugs. You just apply to moist soil when the soil temperature is above 5ºC (41ºF) and ensure the soil does not dry out for at least two weeks after applying nematodes. There are two main methods of applying Nemaslug; with a watering can, or with a garden hose fitted with a hose end sprayer. Nemaslug can be applied any time when slugs are present as long as the soil temperature is 5oC (40oF) (this is also when plants start to grow). Nemaslug is an organic slug killer that is completely safe and can be applied under glass or outdoors. The nematodes were easy to mix with water and to apply – I used a watering can having first enlarged the holes in the rose using a metal skewer.
