Matty Matheson is one of the most exciting and original voices to have emerged on the cookery scene in the last five years or so.Matty's approach to food makes this book unique, and most importantly, makes him a brilliant cookbook author. Grampy often went out on patrol with his dogs for thirty days or more at a time, surviving on what he could kill and carry on his dogsled. They made plum jam, cranberry sauce, blueberry jam, and blackberry jelly from the wild fruits on their farm. I will say that most of the juicy recipes in this cookbook are meant for the industrial kitchen, they are huge projects, some of them taking up to 5 days to complete!

As amazing as the first book was, I felt like it missed an opportunity to provide some recipes that satiated people’s hunger with simple and easy to cook meals, not that any of the ones I attempted were insanely difficult unless it came down to ingredient availability. There are many, many tempting recipes (see below) and Home Style Cookery will definitely get plenty of use if you like Matheson’s style (and I really do), but maybe just not everyday. and Dead Set on Life , the father of three bundles of joy, the greatest husband to the greatest wife in the world, and a chef phenom.But Matty Matheson really manages to inject his personality into his cookbooks, his intros are magic and I softened chuckled a bit to myself reading this.
