I think PUL would be just great for the lining without interfacing to it as long as your outer bags are sturdy enough. I had never quite got around to it, so having had 'make an attempt at sushi' on my New Year's resolution list at the beginning of this year I was determined to give it a good go before the end of this year! Don’t settle for a blank canvas as a lunch box, not when you can have this eco-friendly, bamboo penguin lunch box. Place the nori shape onto the back of the rice penguin (it should stick nicely by itself) following the shape on the body from the tip of the tail to the top of the head and bending the sides around to enclose the back of the penguin. I absolutely love the distinctive artwork of Oliver Jeffers' children's books, so we have most of them on our shelf!

Penguins Café has been awarded the Soil Association Food for Life, Bronze Award, meaning every egg is a free range egg, and all of our meat is farm assured and can be traced back to the farm. They are usually put together with some kind of filling, before being compressed and shaped, but I made them with plain rice to keep it easy. As well as creating book themed lunches, I’m also hosting a linky party each day on the theme of the book, so check out the links at the end of each post for more book related fun, and of course please add links to any blog posts you may have on the day’s theme.

Use the second punch to cut out the wings, feet, beak and eye shapes and stick them into place to complete the penguin. Plus I used your idea of top stitching the final ring 1/4 inch in so you could see those loose edges! Currently, I have hanging over my sewing area a vintage handkerchief from my great grandma that is the EXACT fabric you used for the outside that is the food with calories on it.

Home to hundreds of unique and amazing Penguin Gifts, Little Penguin is a small family business with a love for Penguins! Some in little numbered enclosures just big enough to shelter them, others among the bushes and still more out in the open. They are so detailed for those of us who don't have all the skills, but like to try our hands at sewing. Take the penguin mould and fill with rice, pressing it in with the back of the spoon and adding more rice as necessary. Thanks for this tutorial - it's a lovely little bag, and I have just made one - I used cotton batting in place of the interfacing, and quilted it.

Ian was a good sport, though, he’d nudge, he’d cajole but there were three of us against one of him – no contest. I just found a bag on Pinterest on a ladies blog, she had used your tutorial and linked back to you.

We're debating letting Bunny go to packed lunches as she keeps asking and I will certainly be looking to you for inspiration! I will make one for my husband and I may make one for me because it looks nice for carrying some crafty goods as you said. Small Baby was the happy recipient of my first ever rice penguins, which I presented to him in a simple penguin themed muffin tin meal. I have just the fabric I want to use for my 'lunch bag' which will probably end up being my crochet bag (crochet wool and work currently housed in a plastic bag! The first sound I heard was loud braying coming from the area where the penguins were supposed to be.
