About this deal

low end response and because they gently conform to your unique head shape you'll be comfortable wearing them all day. Below I will outline some of the considerations I certainly know I had when looking for studio headphones, and see how the 8400's match up. Comparing them to the original versions, it’s also quite clear the KNS 8402 has had a proper visual makeover, with subdued branding and a new metal plate design on the outside of the ear cups. A number of online comments concerned the treble of the 8400's - many people described it as "rough" and fatiguing, and there are some frequency graphs out there that showed a somewhat messy high frequency response. They have a locking mechanism for the jacks at both the base of the cans and at the volume adjuster halfway down the cable which works nicely.

Allow me to assure you that these are headphones, and as such they come with a certain degree of weight/irritation. Build – evaluates how well the headphones are put together, the materials used and indicates the expected longevity.KRK 8400 Headphones provide a precise listening experience that takes you from personal studio to commercial studio to on-the-go track evaluations. This would likely never be a problem when mixing, since the accuracy is maintained, but it can detract from the headphone listening experience.

Excellent ambient noise isolation means they won't bleed into the mics when recording, and you won't be disturbed by external sounds while listening. When evaluating the frequency response score with the Average calibration profile, the pair to pair consistency of the given model is taken into account – if we have measured a considerable frequency response inconsistency among multiple pairs of the given model, the score drops, as the profile loses accuracy. Listening to golden age hip-hop production was a surprising experience, I noticed deep 808 kicks placed beneath the drums that I hadn't clearly discerned before. Listening to the ProAcs, it feels as though there are live performers playing in the room, and I remember having something of this feeling listening to the NAD HP50's when they were new. Their increased midrange focus and lack of distracting bottom end thump helps singers and instrumentalists focus on pitch and melody.

As a ramen-seven-times-a-week college student I don't have much first-hand experience with super high-end headphones, so perhaps my opinion is biased. Since they’re so comfortable, and so well suited for a variety of uses, both in and out of the studio–tracking, editing, mixing, general listening–they’ll quickly become your favourite headphones! I should also emphasize that I've never heard the KNS 8400, so I can't compare their sound to the 8402 based on my own experience.

Designed to provide a detailed listening experience for discriminating ears, the newly updated KRK KNS 6402 Studio Headphones build upon the well-received KNS 6400 model with improvements across the board. My ONLY complaint is the headband, I wish the padding was more evenly distributed (to distribute the weight of the headphones) rather than designed to where it creates two distinct pressure points.Studio phones at 150 dollars are about the equivalent of studio speakers at 300 dollars, I would say.
