Spelling Seeds have been designed to complement Writing Roots by providing weekly, contextualised sequences of sessions for the teaching of spelling that include open-ended investigations and opportunities to practise and apply within meaningful and purposeful contexts, linked (where relevant) to other areas of the curriculum and a suggestion of how to extend the investigation into home learning. As the sequence of learning progresses, children will describe Iggy’s character and make comparisons with Miss Lila Greer’s character, using conjunctions. Some of the dialect in all of these books is of course American, but doesn't detract from the stories at all.With Andrea Beaty’s irresistible rhyming text and David Roberts’s puckish illustrations, this book will charm creative kids everywhere, and amuse their sometimes bewildered parents.
