I think my other favorite moments were any time Nash made himself vulnerable, whether it was with Emery or Delilah.

she had this thing where she would talk about words that made me feel stupid because i never heard them before. as the author, I understand she's trying to convey the history of these two wounded people to create depth and understanding. The story is intense, gripping, and addictive with characters that walk a fine line of likability at times but still leave you wanting more.

i just want to know who wrote these little scenes because it couldn’t have been parker…this is why i said earlier in my review that she needed to pick a writing style.

There’s a line of dialogue, a few paragraphs of internal monologue, then the conversation continues, but by that time I’d forgotten what the last line of dialogue was, and had to back track to re-read it. Years later the tables have turned, Emery is living in closet barely scrapping monies to tackle a day and Nash is the wealthy monster who seeks revenge on any Winthrop. How desperate for attention was she that she needed to break into my penthouse and strip in my shower? there were definitely some swoon worthy moments…but this romance book had absolutely no business being 700 pages. Was the book a little long with too many flashback segments, yes, but as a reader, I have the luxury of speed-reading.

Could she be any more self-sacrificial, infuriating, contradicting, confusing, generous, deviant, remarkable, or fucking goddamn consuming? please grab your popcorn and candy now😋oh and if you liked this book…look away now bestie, this review is not for you.It’s a fantastic book – darker than my usual these days – and I’d love to read more with a similar vibe. Why is it that two people never realize how much they love each other until one of them says goodbye? The book had a promising premise; the beginning was good with an interesting backstory, but unfortunately, the execution fell short. Mostly they'll quote Homer or Dante or whomever they deem is lofty enough thinking it makes them seem smart.

Funny how when she was 15 and he was 25, he said his brother's girlfriend was a passing fancy but Emery was the girl you marry. And I appreciated all the details threaded in, such as the ways in which Emery and Nash both were making amends for their perceived wrong-doings. Nash kept pushing her down and Emery fights back up, in the end she is showering in front of my boss and skipping work to fuck him.
