Removing the front panel has become one of our regular tests, as it provides an absolute best case scenario for airflow that other results can be compared against. Liquid cooling support is pretty good for a mid-tower (see the spec chart), and there’s even a space for a fill port under the top cover. Obviously new cases all have perpendicular disk cages and back cable nowadays but to me this is a life saver.

If there was any hair from my pets, the front fans would get it before it ever got to the bottom fans, so I had to clear out my front filter a lot more often than the bottom filter. That initially sounds like a ripoff, but it seems likely that the R6 had already gone into production by the time Fractal realized there would be demand for USB Type-C, and that this was the best compromise available. Do note that the 2 of the SSDs mount on the bottom of the main chamber between the PSU and motherboard chamber. Starting with the unboxing, good pakaging considering that that it should be for the tempered side panel, the case has good quality build with thick metal every way, 3 140mm fans included. Didn't give me too much bad surprise, the PSU shroud and bottom mount issue, I already knew them before getting the case. I think that memory stick is damaged somewhat, a few booting fails happened, luckily it eventually worked after remounting the stick several times. We never bothered to review Fractal’s popular Define R5--by the time we got a chance, it was already old news.On the old case I'm used to have the left panel open in case any problem happens, but I think that is now no longer needed. Since Fractal sent us the proper PCIe riser cable, we didn’t have to strap everything together with zip ties and the GPU and CPU coolers didn’t make contact--this is just how it is with air-cooled components in this configuration.
