Another question people asked me about this radio is whether it’s a proper real DMR radio, and not a cheap Chinese knock off like the DM-5R. eHam considers soliciting and/or rewarding favorable reviews by manufacturers/dealers as unethical and unwelcome. Note: If the programming cable is plugged into the computer and the device manager displays "Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port (COM6)", it indicates that your cable is an old version. But since most amateur radio traffic is not mission critical, this is not a deal breaker for many hams.also the frequency calibration of this specific radio seems to be quite off (> 200 Hz according to SDR/hotspot) at least in the UHF band. Did anyone take the new radio apart to see what is inside, becuase it sounds very much like the Baofeng DM-1801 / DR-1801, which replaced the MCU + C6000 + AT1846S with a single RF module, and this module is only connected via its Rx and Tx serial data pins, rather than a true USB connection. GPS Function: Gives you lat long, altitude, bearing, and speed Support to text the information to another radio with the same DMR protocol.

Channel Selector Backlash when turning the channel selector at times, the channels won't advance, except it appears to loop around a few channels. The backlight has an ‘always on’ setting that has very little impact on battery drain from my experience.Commercial radios like those made by Motorola and Hytera don't have this feature at all, except in the case of the TYT MD-380 which had unofficial firmware made that does support this. While that won't get you located and prosecuted system engineers do talk to each other and if they notice a pattern of it, systems you haven't even touched in the area can end up suddenly getting locked down. Of course it could be that the firmware uses 0x29 and (0x29+1) thus making it hard to find where in the binary is setting the frequency. The lack of any easy and quick way to switch talkgroup means that you either have to program the radio with a channel for every talkgroup on each repeater, or you just have to put up with it taking a long time to switch talkgroups.

The belt clip is separate from the battery (nice touch) so you don't have to switch it when you switch batteries but at 3200 mAH I do not see when you ever have to. Like the RT50 (aka TYT MD-680D) mentioned in developer discussions, it is using the serial-to-USB converter (with the same "hack" of USB pins also being connected directly to the UART RX/TX lines at least in V1) so the serial communication with CPS would have to be changed in the radio to use UART directly. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. If a review is posted that you believe is unfairly critical of your product and you wish to respond with useful information contact eHam's Product Review's Manager to request the addition of an "eHam.The AILUNCE HD1 handheld radio operates in analogue and digital modes using TDMA technology and is fully DMR compliant, Tier I and Tier II compliant. Offering rewards for good reviews can create detectable bias in reviews that savvy review readers can notice.

If someone else happens to be transmitting nearby, or there's a high power transmitter nearby then your radio will either suffer from much worse reception, or it will completely drop out. The AILUNCE HD1 amateur radio digital DMR handheld radio operates in analogue and digital modes using TDMA technology and is fully DMR compliant, Tier I and Tier II compliant. A valid product review is one where you have personal experience or knowledge of the product that you would like to share with others. The one thing which would make the two versions of radio interesting is that the structure of the menus and firmware is (almost) identical in both radios, the codeplug and communication protocol is identical so it is possibly using the same codebase for building the firmware.Programming was pretty straightforward with the included programming cable and downloadable CPS software from Retevis. As of the time of writing this review, all of the other *dual band* DMR radios available have this same type of receiver, so would probably suffer from the same problem. Ailunce is the HAM specific division of Retevis and there are many HAM features that set this radio apart from radios that are simply commercial radios modified for HAM use.
