We began it last week and it has proven an instant hit; they all look forward to story time at the end of the day now and check it will be happening first thing in the morning.

While on the surface it is a hilarious portrayal of a very frustrated Loki’s attempt to prove that he is not the monster everyone makes him out to be, it also contains many allusions to various stories throughout Norse Mythology. And the story ends on a cliffhanger (sort of), which of course means we can't wait for the next volume in this series.The only things I think parents would object to is some rude humor (poo, farts), but it isn't gratuitous, and the fact that it mentions a couple times that Loki once transformed into a mare and birthed an eight legged horse. Despite his contemptuous attitude towards mortal beings, readers will be rooting for him to make the right choices, as he learns about guilt, loyalty and friendship. Loki must record evidence of his moral improvement in a magical diary which, unfortunately for him, corrects lies and deducts ‘virtue points’ from his score whenever he behaves badly. He has a whole month to redeem himself or else he will be sent to Hel wherein he will find an eternity of torture by the fangs of venomous snakes.
