About this deal

Her old friends are so happy to see her after all these years, and they easily fall back into their banter. Title - Heartcross Castle: The most heartwarming and feel good romance set in the Highlands – the perfect Scottish escape! She was brought up by her grandfather Marley following the death of her mother and as she grows into her teen years, clashes with him which in turn sees her leaving home and Scotland.

Even though this was part of a series it read as a stand alone book and I could easily pick up on the main characters in this book. I am a huge fan of Christie’s Love Heart Lane series and I think this might be my favourite book in the series so far. In the past she was hurt, rebellious and grieving the loss of her mother and was in no way prepared for the strict supervision of her grandfather.Things definitely don’t run smoothly though as the home she once knew is now crumbling and in dire need of repair and money. When I saw she had another one due to come out I rushed straight to Netgalley to request, and was very happy to be accepted. I am always pleased when Christie Barlow releases another Love Heart Lane story, they are always full of family, friendship and love, and I am pleased to confirm that Heartcross Castle is no exception!

My many thanks to One More Chapter via Netgalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy which I have reviewed honestly. It was really heartwarming to read just how loved and missed Grace was and that her friends don’t hesitate to help her which just shows the wonderful community for what is really is – a family. While there are many warm and caring secondary characters from earlier books, I really enjoyed seeing Grace’s three boys interact on the pages. Although their are some emotional subjects included in this book such as financial issues, physical and emotional abuse, trauma mutism, surrogacy and miscarriages amongst other things. I loved catching up with all my friends from the previous books, but especially Felicity and Isla, who knew Grace from when they were growing up.

It is the community that will give her the support and rekindle the lost friendships because this is what this community does best. What you will miss out on is how the community has been connected, brought together and developed with each book. When her grandfather Marley passes away Grace Power discovers she’s been left the beautiful but crumbling estate of Heartcross Castle. Heartcross Castle is full of secrets - especially a lost security deposit box that holds the truth to everything. When Christie isn’t writing she enjoys playing the piano, is a keen gardener and loves to paint and upcycle furniture.

Honestly, it has now got to the stage that I have to remind myself that these are fictional characters and not a real set of people I am catching up with. There will be surprises, fun and laughter (once the initial dark back story is complete) with an ending you know is coming but gosh the journey getting there was fun. I liked the realism and detail of the book – we learn exactly how Grace makes ends meet (just), salvages a living space from the wreck of the castle and repairs those friendships (I tried not to retain knowledge of who is married to whom and running which small business when I discovered this is SEVENTH in the Love Heart Lane series set in the small Scottish town!If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance. Do yourself a favour and make sure you are up to date with all the books by that time, you’ll be ever so glad to have discovered the Love Heart Lane series. I was very unconvinced that Christie would be able to make him likable and worthy of Grace’s interest.

Until one day a letter from the solicitor comes to tell her her grandfather has passed away and she has inherited Heartcross Castle. Her determination to raise her children properly and escape her previous life which left one of her children unable unable speak shows us how strong she is as well as how much she loves her sons. These are a great representation of two complete opposite ends of the spectrum and how they can both help each other become better, more rounded people. The pages were turning that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves as I seemed to race through the book. And a forever home Heartcross Castle is full of secrets – especially a lost security deposit box that holds the truth to everything… But when celebrity chef Andrew Glossop sets his eyes on the castle and, to make matters worse, mistakes Grace as the new housekeeper, Grace tells him there is absolutely NO CHANCE he is getting his hands on her home. As a single mum of three, Grace has no idea what she’s going to do with it - but who can say no to a roof over their kids’ heads and a chance to get away from past hurts? gave a warm feeling as you read each page' Suzanne 'There's pretty much nothing I want more now than to escape to a small Scottish town and live in a cottage.
