About this deal

Even though this is the first book in this series, I didn’t read this one first and so to see this same romance timeline yet again bothered me.

This second book in the series takes readers on a journey with Adelaide Frampton, Hell’s Belle and the Matchbreaker, and her nemesis/love interest Henry, The Duke of Claybourn as they trek across England to try and track down a couple eloping to Gretna Green. She may follow the stifling rules of this odd place, but no one will forget that she came from elsewherNick was damaged goods who although he has a great supporting family and best friend, was falling apart due to the stress of his FBI job. Tom didn't see any harm in doing that, even though he wondered how his own misery was going to relieve anyone else's. But despite those things, I enjoyed reading it and I am glad to find more Julie Garwood characters to follow. His younger brother John, Lord Carrington, has run off to Gretna Green with Lady Helene, a young woman Adelaide is trying to find. It was exactly as described by the seller and was packaged well to prevent any damage during transit.

Slowly, tauntingly, the man describes his murderous past—how he stalked his victim, worked his way into her life, and then took that life in a violent rage—and his plan to kill again. It felt like you were inside Pony’s head, so as well as what was going on, you also had her stream of teenage consciousness. The rabbi said the same thing every week, and Tom invariably ribbed him about that when they played golf together on Wednesday afternoons. Heartbreaker makes high and hilarious art from the emotional pop-rocks and glittery junk of a certain way of being young. I can say with absolute certainty that I'm never going to read this again, but unfortunately it's one that I actually own so I'm going to have to find someone to give it to.Yes, it's going to be much harder to stop me now, but this time I've decided to make it more difficult for me. I also need to point out that both Buchanan and Clayborn are families from Garwood's Historical Romance books. The secondary characters were more fascinating, and hopefully we will see some of them in the coming books. And then looking out at this endless wilderness all around me and feeling that sharp sense of what it would be like to disappear.

He also expresses the bewilderment that cracks me up about JG's heroes when he falls so hard for Laurant, despite his determination not to do so. Enjoy strange, diverting work from The Commuter on Mondays, absorbing fiction from Recommended Reading on Wednesdays, and a roundup of our best work of the week on Fridays.

The air was heavy and ripe with mildew, making his breathing as labored as when he was back at Penn State running that last yard to the goalposts with the football tucked neatly in his arm. McKindry jokingly referred to it as "Our Lady of the Lexus," and from the number of designer cars parked in the church's lot on Sunday mornings, the label was right on the mark. She just happened to be walking past the abbot at the moment he came up with the ideas, and gracious to a fault, she hadn't refused. I don’t remember tearing up while reading this, but I wrote that in my IG post so it must have been true.
