The Vendome dates back to 1994 and can contain 5,000 gallons (18,900 litres); it is installed on a “covered veranda” and is the only still that faces the sugarcane fields surrounding the distillery. While it is a rough ride through the mountains to get there, the landscape and history are absolutely beautiful. The only suggestion l would make to improve this tour is to have more than two types of rum for guests to sample. Hampden HLCF Classic Overproof is a four-year-old pot-distilled rum bottled at 60% without any added sugar or colourings.
